The past week was a very good one for Ted Cruz in South Carolina, as he swept the straw polls at four bi-annual Republican county conventions, and one county GOP Executive Committee bi-monthly meeting.
The first came as Cruz won the Anderson County GOP convention straw poll as follows: Cruz 27%, Walker 25%, Rubio 15%, Huckabee 9%, Graham and Perry 6% each, Santorum 5%, Bush, Paul and Carson 1% each.
But the biggest prizes came for Cruz as he won Greenville, Spartanburg and Aiken GOP convention straw polls all on the same day as follows:
Greenville: Cruz 28%, Walker 22%, Carson 8.5%, Rubio and Santorum 8% each, Bush 5%, Paul and Huckabee 3% each, Graham 3%, Perry 2%, Fiorina 1%
Spartanburg: Cruz 32%, Walker 30%, Santorum 14%, Paul 7%, Others 16% combined.
In the Aiken straw poll, voters could vote for multiple candidates by listing their 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices. Scott Walker got the most total votes, but Cruz edged Walker out in 1st choice votes as follows: Cruz 36%, Walker 32%, Rubio 14%, Santorum 9%, Paul 6%
And finally, late last week came the Dorchester county GOP Executive Committee straw poll: Cruz 30%, Walker 25%, Carson 16%, Rubio 11%, Paul 7%, Graham 4%, Santorum 2%, Kasich 2%

I believe we will see Cruz take it all - just like Ronald Reagan.
The Cruz/Walker team takes 50% or higher in every poll.
Well I don’t see how this is possible
Byron York reported yesterday on all the ‘front runners’ mentioning Ted Cruz as having like 12% and being known only as the guy who shit down the government
GOP is going to look ten times more dufus for using liberal arguments to try to suppress conservative support for Cruz
Oy. Shut down the government
Sorry to bust the bubble but SC is an open primary state...Bush/Graham will take it easily. Bush knows this and will work the open primary system to get him the nom.
BTW Sc just voted to keep the open primary......
” GOP is going to look ten times more dufus for using liberal arguments to try to suppress conservative support for Cruz”
They don’t care how they look. They will spend 200+ million if they have to to kill a conservative candidate. The good news is I don’t think it will work this time.
Hence the dufus moniker. These guys take it for granted they’ll always have journalistic credibility
If they can’t see people supporting Cruz what are they looking at?
And there are a lot of them. Conservatives look to these people for good news about the state of the country. Someone comes along with a credible plan to fix it using a conversion/reversion to the constitution the very only thing that will work. And now or never with h! at the heel and these guys reject him. In favor of whom?
Who do they think is going to fix this? Do they think it’s just another presidential race?
They are not paying attention. Gutfeld, bolling. Perino the entire McLaughlin group, imus,
They don’t see their seasoned colleagues staying back not commenting? Unwise. It is going to stick. No one sees dick Morris’s any more. Karl rove squirms his way onto the set but no one is listening to him
Well maybe so. Jeb takes the whole thing well he has the cash. From where, ?

Cruz -OR- Lose...
Walkers just a Gawker ...
Ruh Roh, GOPe isn’t gonna like that! Cruz was NOT their choice.
Oy. Shut down the government
The federal gov’t is NOT THE gov’t... it’a “A” gov’t..
We have three different gov’ts in America..
fed, state and local..
>> Sorry to bust the bubble but SC is an open primary state...Bush/Graham will take it easily
Don’t get hysterical. Bush/Graham will do better in the primary than in straw polls, but that’s a far cry from taking the state ‘easily’. Especially if conservatives coalesce behind Cruz.
I HATE open primarys!!
Dr. Freud wants his slip back.
This is where the state Republican parties have to make a stand against the national party and demand closed primaries. If they do not then the state Republicans are no better than the sellouts in DC.
It’s going to boil down to Cruz v. Walker.
Sorry Jeb, the dogs won’t eat it.
You assume there won’t be any challenge to Hillary. I disagree. Even if it’s only Martin O’Malley, whoever else is in the “not Hillary” slot will get at least 40% of the Democrat vote by default, maybe more. So Democrats will be overwhelmingly voting in their own primaries this time.
Tell him he can have it. It’s a gem
