The flow of illegal immigrants has dropped to its lowest level in years judging by the number being apprehended along the border, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said Friday as he sought to be more transparent about his department’s performance.
Mr. Johnson said the drop is coming despite an improving economy, which generally draws more illegal migrants. Instead, the secretary said, a boost in manpower and technology along the southwestern border, coupled with public messages in Latin America discouraging would-be migrants from making the journey have helped turn the tide.
Through the first six months of fiscal year 2015, which began Oct. 1, the Border Patrol had caught 151,705 illegal immigrants on the southwestern border, down by 28 percent compared to the previous year.
“We are not declaring mission accomplished. we believe that there is more we can and should do when it comes to strengthening border security,” Mr. Johnson said.
The number of illegal immigrants caught is thought to be a rough measure of the total flow trying to come, so a drop in apprehensions is seen as an indication that fewer people are successfully entering.

Not just that; at some point (though Brazil at least is decades from this point), Latin America will run out of people to export. The 1%ers down there aren’t going to work their own plantations, cook their own meals, etc.

Yes. The Obola administration’s HHS is DELIBERATELY “apprehending” fewer illegal aliens, but this propaganda (er, report) specifically makes the assumption fewer illegal aliens are crossing the border.
I had to get my drivers license switched over from IL to AZ. While there, I saw many foreigners and at least half (they were Muslims based on their clothing) did not have the necessary documents and were turned away. I believe the clerk specifically said they needed an I-94 form or some such thing???

Depends on Jeh’s definition of “illegal”, doesn’t it.
That is because Obama will not let the Border Patrol arrest illegals, who are now officially listed as “refugees” and unofficially, as future Democrat voters.
If there is a real decrease, it might be because the Texas Guard is still patrolling the Rio Grands, and would-be squatters respect their presence. The taxpayers of Texas have spent millions keeping the rest of you a little safer from the invasion of criminals on our border. With our oil and gas industry suffering and state revenues down, don’t expect your free ride to continue much longer.
