Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker executed an "Olympics-quality flip-flop" on immigration on Monday in an interview with conservative radio host Glenn Beck, according to a former aide to the 2016 Republican presidential prospect.
The ex-staffer, Liz Mair, commented on Twitter:
Sad to see the full, Olympics-quality flip-flop by a former boss today. I guess some people think they can do what Romney did in 08 + win.

Walker has said he previously supports opening a pathway to residency for immigrants who came here illegally - a position that resonates with the country's growing Hispanic electorate but has less support among the core Republican voters who decide presidential primaries.
Of late Walker has backed away from his earlier position, Politico reports [link at URL].
"My view has changed," he told Fox News in March.

Suffice it to say, throughout the Southwest, many Hispanics go back decades and generations.
Ya think?
LOL
Exactly right!
Why would you post an article about a pro-amnesty staffer who was with Walker for all of one day? Raising that question is hardly an ad hominem attack, troll-boy.
So build up Cruz instead of tearing down Walker. Both are good men with some policy warts. Who doesn't have at least a few? The point is, we lose when conservatives form circular firing squads.
ansel, I’m not going to go looking for the link where others claim he was misreported, but it exists and it’s dishonest on your part to ignore its existence.
All of a sudden we trust everything we read in the paper, right? Right.
Wisconsin has had an organization that calls itself “Voces de la Frontera” since 2002. Voices of the Frontier (of Mexico) in WI since 2002 and you are trying to tellme that Wisconsin doesn’t have much of an illegal alien problem?
I’m not buying that.
When your state is being colonized to the point of having Spanish speaking groups representing themselves as Voices of the Frontier of Mexico a really long distance from the real frontier of Mexico, you should have noticed before now.
She would have been a staffer for Walker longer than a day if all hell didn’t break loose over him bringing her on board. It was a bad decision to hire her but he still did it. Don’t try to justify that mistake based on the fact it was only for one day. She’d still be on board if it wasn’t for the immediate fallout. Bringing that mistake up isn’t trolling, it just adds to the concern over his flip flopping on illegals. Many of us have valid concerns in regards to Walker.
Scott Walkers actions of passing MANY conservative laws including some against illegal immigrants show who he is a pro-American conservative. Actions, results mean everything. Words mean nothing
Here is just one example of walker taking ACTION against illegal immigrants:
Walkers 2011 Budget Eliminated A Program That Grants In-State College Tuition To Children Of Undocumented Immigrants.

That’s the problem. Some legals overstay and steal non-farm jobs. The problem is they let too many legals in the first place.
I dont know if Walker is telling the truth but it is good he brought it up.
The issue of illegal immigration has been brought up enough for people to decide what needs to be done on that issue.
I’ve seen something similar to this post on the forum a number of times now. It’s as inaccurate now as it was the other times.

If this is true, then we can never vet our candidates. And if we can never vet our candidates, then we are no better than the Democrats who refuse to vet theirs.
A simple question was asked. It wasn’t clever. It wasn’t unfair. It was a straight up question. It got a straight up answer.
Folks can judge for themselves.
Scott has a problem.
He states his immigration policy has changed.
What do you do if you want to protect the jobs of U. S. Citizens? Dont you send back the people who are here illegally holding down jobs?
In this video clip his old (2013) policy is aired in a second video clip. He backs illegals staying in the U. S. if they pay a fine.
It is also mentioned that he favored the McCain/Kennedy immigration bill. (You know, amnesty but not an amnesty) He acknowledges that.
Then in this (03/01/2015) clip, Walker is asked if illegals can stay, if they pay a fine. He responds with, I believes a way can be found to do that.
This is the same policy as his old policy.
Then he states that his policy has changed. No Scott, it hasnt changed. You just got through endorsing the same policy, illegals being allowed to stay in our country if they pay a fine. So you even fibbed about it.
In 2006/07, 2013, and now in 2015, his immigration policy regarding illegal immigrants is the same as that under McCain/Kennedy. Let them pay a fine and stay.

Of first priority, seal the border to make it almost impossible for new squatter to sneak across. I would build a physical fence layered with a technological fence (drones, aircraft, proximity detectors and infrared cameras) and National Guard troops along areas most vulnerable.
After that, for the estimated 12 million squatters illegally using our sovereign territory, declare them felons for breaking our border laws. As felons in this type of crime, they forfeit their right to vote, which is already an unconditional penalty in four states. The argument is, if a person is willing to violate border laws, what is to prevent them from voter fraud?
The next thing I would do deals with the issue of crime. If these squatters violate any crime (that includes drunken driving that causes an accident) and the crime merits a fine sufficient in cost for the criminal’s transport back across the border, they pay their way back. If it means incarceration, send them back. Why should they suck the cost of incarceration from our tax dollars. How much is a plane ride back? $300? Once in the criminal justice system, their fingerprints and DNA will be on file, if they get caught back in the country. Then, instead of being sent back, they get prison time. Word will get out that going back into America risks a serious prison term for at least 5 years. Then, the coup de grâce: deportation at the end of sentence.
Finally, our Conservative leaders can work out other things to do with the 12 million who are here. If they make squatting as complicated as filling out a IRS 1040, maybe they will opt for the simpler life back in Mother Country.

I think we all agree the border is job one. My take is that even though it’s job one, jobs 2-? start at the same moment.
There shouldn’t be a delay for the rest of it.
Anyone caught hiring an illegal should have to pay a big fine, for personal or business purposes.
Anyone renting to an illegal should have property forfeiture on the table.
It should be made clear that the current school year is the last school year illegal alien children will be allowed to attend.
We should fight this as vigorously as we do any other crime. If it’s no legal to rob banks of tens of billions, it shouldn’t be legal to rob the citizens of a like amount.
I would also mention property forfeiture as another FReeper suggested. Liquidate and leave, and you keep your property. Don’t an in two years you lose it.
Thank you for the post. Each time you post it or another pro Walker immigration thread goes up, I’ll be there to inform FReepers what Scott Walker’s word is worth on illegal immigration matters.

“Wasnt she like an employee of his maybe a couple of hours because hell dropped from the skies when people found out he hired her?”
She’s worked for Walker before. She worked for his 2012 re-call election campaign.
The free ride for these squatters has gone on for too long. I wonder how many of them are on food stamp EBT cards, getting free medical and working tax free under the table? With all of these breaks, their economic worth might be more than someone busting their bodies working full time for the taxed $30K job.
There is a difference between a “path to legal status” and a “pathway to citizenship”. Cruz does not support citizenship for people who have broken the law. He does support temporary work visas however which would legalize someone here illegally but not give them citizenship and the rights that go with that (voting for example).
None of the candidates have pleased me 100% on their immigration stances however some have remained consistent and are closer to my views than others.
