Shoplifting at a store like Walmart isn't unusual, but the details surrounding two cases at a Houston location on Tuesday still have people shaking their heads.
"I just think that it was wrong and it should never happen again," says shopper Wayne Miller.
Mary Helen Brown, 20, and Bianca Nicole Murrell, 21, are both charged with shoplifting and abandoning their children. Investigators say the pair walked into a Walmart on South Post Oak Boulevard near the 610 Loop -- each with a 5-year-old child. They are accused of taking food off the shelves, feeding it to their kids, then stuffing the empty wrappers back on the shelves.
But store security workers say they didn't stop there. The two reportedly picked up other items, scanned them at the cash register, and then allegedly stuffed them in their purses after canceling the sales. When Walmart security approached the women, they say the ladies ran from the store and left their 5-year-olds behind.

Yep, you guessed it.
You are right. I need to re-enroll in cultural competency classes.
:-)
I didn’t even have to click on the link, and yet somehow, I knew...
When did criminality become so... acceptable to a sizable segment of our population? From simple littering to assault and even murder.
I’m stunned.
its a minor at Harvard I think?
drove a cab a few years back for extra dough on staten island. Obamas sons and daughters never tipped, robbed me twice, I foolishly left wallet out after counting money, conducted drug deals and even traded drugs for EBT money and of course prostitution was rampant. Nobody was married but had a zillion kids. Everyone loved Obama and was on multiple entitlements.
And Jon Stewart is CERTAIN that ALL EBT money is being used legally. How do these sheltered pieces of ah.t know what the real world is? Him and his audience.
The time, my friends, is drawing near...if Cruz or Walker doesn’t win...
20 and 21 with 5 year old kids????/...the daddies were undoubtedly either in their college classes or were hard at work so as to provide a stable home life for THEIR CHILDREN...
Typical EBT LIBs.
The manager and another store employee chased after her, but she got in her car. They were pleading with her to stay and wait for the police to come. By this time a 25 year employee from the electronics department saw the commotion and tried to help the other 2 WalMart employees. The shoplifter then backed her car over all 3 of them. The jury convicted her on 3 counts of aggravated robbery and 1 count of child endangerment. The jury would have convicted her of another count of child endangerment for the 8 month fetus she was carrying if she had been charged for it. We gave her 11 years for the charges involving the most seriously injured woman who was run over by the car's tire on her back. That was the minimum sentence we could give her and ensure that no judge could probate the sentence given that this was a first offense. She probably could have gotten a lighter sentence if she had made a plea bargain, but there was no way we would give her probation, and we were determined that she spend time in prison.
Of course what Im doing is quite a bit different from what you are talking about. Bad interpretation of policy or proper interpretation of bad policy? I don't know but Im going to find out next time.
We were just talking about this particular store several evenings ago. They tore down an absolutely wonderful golf driving range to create room for this Walmart. Definitely is not a location you would go after dark if you value life and limb and it’s not much better in the daytime.
I realize they do seem to be on the old side, but consider, perhaps they weren't very attractive.
“The two reportedly picked up other items, scanned them at the cash register, and then allegedly stuffed them in their purses after canceling the sales.”
They don’t call the self-service lane the “Thieving Lines” for nothing, you know.
Sadly, Retailers have made the calculation that the savings in manpower costs outweigh the potential theft costs.
20 and 21
Each with a five year-old.
Let that sink in.
Sounds Mary Helen and Bianca already have.
Walmart does child-minding now?
They didn’t have EBT?
I wonder where the babies daddies is at. I will say NOT AT AN IVY LEAGUE SCHOOL...more likely jail.
LOL!!
