Scott Walker, Over the Target, Taking Flak
National Review ^ | April 21, 2015 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 04/21/2015 10:28:03 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

As I noted a week or so ago, Scott Walker has begun to talk about immigration in terms of American wages, the only candidate in the GOP field to do so. He reinforced the message on the Glenn Beck show the other day (note the Jeff Sessions name-check):

In terms of legal immigration, how we need to approach that going forward is saying — the next president and the next congress need to make decisions about a legal immigration system that’s based on, first and foremost, on protecting American workers and American wages, because the more I’ve talked to folks, I’ve talked to Senator Sessions and others out there — but it is a fundamentally lost issue by many in elected positions today — is what is this doing for American workers looking for jobs, what is this doing to wages, and we need to have that be at the forefront of our discussion going forward.

Walker is right that this is a perspective on immigration that the political class generally abhors, and naturally, he is taking hits for his “far right” position, here and here. Walker should take the shots as a compliment, and hopefully, the rest of the field will begin to think and talk about immigration the same way.

I’m not so much interested in what he has done as governor.

Then there really isn't much point.

The point is, he is being considered as a Presidential candidate. What is he proposing to do as President?

I know Walker gets a lot of credit for going after unions. What is not so well known is that he only went after those that opposed his election. Public Safety Unions were given a Pass.

I haven’t seen anything else in his record that I find impressive. He has not stood up for traditional marriage, but he did validate gay marriages going back to last June. He also kept much of Common Core in the education bill he rammed through before the public was aware of it. Now he wants to claim that he would repeal Common Core. Another Fip Flop.

“Walker is now the only potential or declared GOP presidential candidate to discuss the negative effects of a massive increase in LEGAL immigration on American workers:...........................”

For Example....H1B workers

Cruz is good, Walker is good, not playing this game. Not playing the, “I support one guy NOW and am not open to anyone else” crapola. This is how the GOPe divides us and conquers us. My goal is to get the primary down to a choice between guys like Cruz and Walker. Then, let the elbows and fists fly. Until then, the enemy is Jebby Bush, Crispy Crème, Husterbee and Gramnesty.

Say it with me, Walker, good, Cruz, good, GOPe, bad.

Say it with Me:

Cruz is the best, Walker is a distant 2nd.

I’ve already read this article. I’m not sure how it is bold or new, unless they meant bold or new for Walker.

Cruz has said all along that there should be no path to citzenship for illegals and that our immigration laws must be enforced.

Thank you for that. I don’t live near his state, so I miss the good and the bad he does. If it’s a national issue, I’m naturally going to be a bit more prepared to challenge his policies.

For instance, Cruz has said he would repeal Obamacare and recognizes it as the single most regulatory impediment on our economy.

I said before e ObamaCare was ever passed that it would never be repealed. Already the GOPe in the Senate is prepping to restore subsidies for Obamacare if the Supremes kill it.

My understanding is that there has to be a contingency plan in place so that policy holders are not left uninsured. I hope that is all it is, but with this bunch of charlatans anything is possible.

Good enough. Let’s form the circular firing squad.

“The man’s policy is wrong and he’s willing to lie to me. And those who misrepresent him to us here are also willing to do that.”

Sounds like you’re saying Walker is another lying politician.

This is not what we need to clean up Obama’s mess.

It is what it is, and it certainly causes me to think in those terms.
