In November of last year, news broke of President Obamas order to conduct a comprehensive review of how the U.S. government handles hostage situations involving Americans taken by terrorist groups abroad. The policy review, which is still underway, launched in the midst of frustration and criticism from the families of American hostagessome of whom ISIS held and murderedover the governments response to the plight of their loved ones. After the horrific deaths of (among others) journalists James Foley and Steven Sotloff and human rights activist Kayla Mueller, critics have pointed to the fact that several othermostly Europeanhostages were recovered from ISIS after officials paid ransoms for their safe return.

The ONLY reason to negotiate with terrorists is if you want to make more of them.

You kill one of ours, we kill ten thousand of yours.
That’s how I’d “ negotiate”.

OR maybe we should ferret them out and send them to hell. Start cutting off their damn heads and burying them in pig feces and I bet the kidnappings will stop.

The answer on where ISIS gets the money to kidnap, rape, and torture: European governments pay them. A country that pays ransom puts a bull's eye on the back of every one their nationals.

I love the part where he asks if the guy minds if he negotiates.
Cracks me up every time.
Obama negotiates like a Mengalore.

A country that pays ransom puts a bull's eye on the back of every one their nationals. ISIS asks insane ransoms, $50M for a hostage or more. Then when the government official talks them down to $500K and claims to have saved 99% of the money, everyone feels good - except the next hostage. I'd rather take ISIS at their word. If they demand $50M, we deliver $50M in 500 pound bombs, or in ammo from a gunship.
