Great Picture!
Not surprised at all. I’ve always felt a strong bond with all my fur kids.
I was at the Dr. two days ago and could hear a baby cooing in the room next to mine. It was such a pleasant sound and I thought to myself that God made us that way.
A baby’s normal actions are amusing and pleasing to us. A baby’s crying is irritating to get our attention.
I had always just assumed that a mama dog’s affection for her pups was just instinct. When I put up a sign to give some away, a little girl and her Grandpa stopped and picked out one. Mama dog did not seem to mind until she got in the pickup with her pup. Mama dog got really upset. She did not like losing that pup.
Even when a puppy goes to a loving forever home, the process of being separated and going to a new home with complete strangers must be really wrenching.
And then, with my daughter's dog, Oz...
When I brought Bowser home he sat out in the yard and cried for a while but he settled in overnight.
The people I got him from loved him and treated him well but couldn’t let him off the leash when he was outside. Here he’s free to run in and out all day and has a half acre to hunt critters in. Lots of fun stuff to do. Yesterday we plucked a dead fish our of the lake and smeared it all over ourselves.
We lost our 16 1/2 year old blue heeler last week. Mr. Mercat, our dachshund, and I miss him a lot. When I went to pick him up 16 years ago from the BYB, he had been with his siblings in a separate part of the farm for a couple of weeks. Both his parents ran at him and rolled him in the dirt. He was glad to go. He was Mr. M’s constant companion and is now buried at our farm. He knew him so well and would sit and watch him closely all the time right up until the last few months when he was just too tired.
They do this stuff on purpose!
Omg that made me laugh!
Labs are great dogs, we had a black lab back in the 90s.
They are so mellow dogs when they get older.
Our dog when he barked had a hound dog sound to his bark.
Our last dog we had was a all black German Shepherd, very intelligent dogs, and they have different quarks in their personally where you could sware that they are almost human.
Sadly we had to put him down a year 1/2 ago from cancer.
When I would take him for a ride in the car I would be in the driver seat and he would get up on the arm rest/center console he would take his left paw and arm and grab my wrist and hand gently and gently pull it towards his chest towards his little heart as if he was saying “ I love you this much “..
Dogs have a sense of innocence about them.
One time my mom’s and step father’s pastor was praying for my step father holding hands , the dog went up to them and put both his paws on their hands as if he wanted to pray with them too..
It’s really surprising how adaptable puppies are. I adopted my Great Dane from a breeder in TX, who shipped him to me here in TN on the day of one of our worst hail storms in many years. I got him at the airport just in time to get him home before the hail hit. Nevertheless, he managed to make it through the night in his crate and we began to bond the next day. Now, four years later, everything is great and he’s a really fantastic dog.
