I know people who get out, officers and chaplains, whove said, I cant serve the way I want to in this environment, said Mr. Lee, who also served as an Army chaplain. People whove said, Because of the religious liberty challenges I see, I think Ill serve somewhere else.
Not being able to recruit or retain these individuals is very dangerous from a national security standpoint, said Mr. Berry, because they could be the militarys next group of leaders, but will never serve because they dont think theyre welcome.
We all used to sit around and talk about planning on spending 20 years, but at some point enough is enough, he said.
Mr. Berry said he thinks the hostile work environment that is forcing the most religious persons out of the military is only getting worse, and that while in the past problems were mainly in the Air Force, religious liberty issues have spread throughout all the services.
The problem is getting worse, not better, despite our efforts, he said. There is a culture [of] hostility [toward] religion in the military right now.

.....Which means I doubt it.
Wow...it started getting bad under Bill Clinton, but this is the sum of all fears.
We’ve come a long way from when the US Government printing office printed bibles for the troops.
I have in front of me right now two New Testaments of Jesus Christ printed in Government printing offices. One is Catholic, the other is Protestant.
THE WHITE HOUSE
WASHINGTON
March 6, 1941
To the Members of the Army;
As Commander-in-Chief I take pleasure in commending the reading of the bible to all who serve in the armed forces of the United States. Throughout the centuries men of many faiths and diverse origins have found in the Sacred Book words of wisdom, counsel, and inspiration. It is a fountain of strength and now, as always, an aid in attaining the highest aspirations of the human soul.
Very sincerely yours,
FRANKLIN D ROOSEVELT
How far we have fallen!
Sounds like another peice trying to disscourage young Christians from service. My son will not comply. I had two officers in the Corp tell me they need young men grounded in their faith.
I guess the thought is just give it up and let the atheists and the homos have it?
Thank you! I get sick of all these “conservatives” who are constantly ready to pack it up and run home to mommy. Thank you for your sons—we do need good Christians in the service.
We put up with enough propaganda from the rainbow brass; we really don’t need it from the outside. And I don’t care what your prior service was—if you are discouraging godly young men from serving, you are just plain wrong.
Yet the number of Imams is growing?
It’d sure make it easier to find em!
It's all part of the plan.
I agree. I read that and thought of ‘The Hunt For Red October’. Why ever would our Military need Political Officers???? Unless we really are becoming the USSA.........
There is a specific reason for getting Christians out of the military...
and it isn’t going to be a good deal in the long run,
not for anyone.
You can rest assured all of my children have been raised in the fear and admonition of the Lord.
They have the utmost respect and reverence for the Constitution.
They might suffer, they might die but they will live their convictions.
This life is but a vapor, they know that. They can handle themselves.
I guarantee if you are patriotic you will be proud to have them in service to your country.
Yes, we respect their service to our country and pray for them often. God has his people!
I’m in the military, currently deployed. Do you think it’s any different anywhere in our society at this time?
Do you think it was any different in Paul’s Rome? Did he run? Did he curse the centurion for the deeds of the emperor? Did he not stay and bear witness unto death?
Read a little further in your very chapter:
The lazy man says, There is a lion outside!
I shall be slain in the streets!
Well, that’s the only word that describes it.
Adolf Hitler was his unit’s political officer during WW1.
There’s a long-standing tradition of naming a senior NCO or, in the case of hospitals I’ve worked at, someone from “human resources” but their function, under marxist doctrine is the same as a PO.
Teach the troops what is acceptable (I used the expression “rag head” once the morning of 9-11and was formally reprimanded by my commander), what isn’t, and report those who won’t comply to the proper authorities.
It’s BEEN over. ... everything but the shooting. DHS is arming up again though, I imagine it’ll be sooner than we think.
Unit political officer?
I retired 5 years ago, but spent 28 years in uniform. I still work inside a USAF detachment.
I’ve never heard of such a thing.
I got saved in the Army. I overheard a Captain who was a Christian debating “religion” with a Jewish guy and eventually asked what I had to do to go to heaven. That was a long time ago.
