“While the city appears to be in a public safety freefall, the mayor chooses rhetoric and political agenda over a plan for saving our community.
The mayor was quick to point out that no amount of police staffing could make the difference.
1) The mayor chose the current chief — does he (Flynn) agree with this flawed perspective 2) The mayor says more gun control and state support is needed (where is the local plan) and 3) and finally, he adds that small amounts of marijuana should be permissible and he reminds us that black lives matter. Let me remind him: recently three teens were killed…small amount of marijuana involved! An elderly couple enjoying their senior years, lives cut short…small amount of marijuana involved! Every life in this community matters.
Our police force remains two-to-three hundred officers under staffed, while at the same time, this force is furloughed at a rate equivalent to 48,000 man hours per year.
How can staffing not make a difference?
Our police officers are over tasked, while expected to perform duties of vacant positions — these officers are forced to work without partners, which puts them at great risk, delays in response time and ultimately jeopardizes the safety of the entire community…investigations are minimized (detective & forensic investigators; each downsized 25% less than when Flynn arrived) — the crook(s) has/have gained the upper hand under this current leadership.”
I’d rather hear the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s opinion on this.
Walker also signed a bill to start a wolf hunting season this October. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service recently determined that the wolves in Wisconsin are a recovered species according to the Endangered Species Act. Hunting-conservation groups and the NRA supported this legislation. Many environmental groups who don’t believe scientifically managed hunting benefits both people and wildlife opposed it. This is a difference of opinion separating those who believe hunting is a tool that can be used by biologists to scientifically manage wildlife populations and those who don’t.Walker sided with the former; Barrett has declined to comment on the issue.

The decision has received national and international attention.
The newspaper ad suggests Gov. Scott Walker’s policies amount to a “war on science” meant to protect the investments of the Koch brothers and other conservative backers. The Koch brothers have interests in energy production.
The PAC NextGen Climate Action bought the newspaper ad. The PAC is run by billionaire and Democrat Tom Steyer."....

On Feb. 23, 2015 Rush Limbaugh mentioned this debate [linked below] between WI Gov. Scott Walker and the Mayor of Milwaukee, WI [who was challenging Walker in a recall election after he "broke" union hold on the state].
It's an hour but by watching it ALL you will have a good idea how Walker is going to campaign and interact with the media and critics.

Tom Barrett is just extremely sore about losing to Scott Walker twice for Governor. He also is sore that Scott was a far better Milwaukee County executive than he has ever been as Milwaukee mayor. The city is a hellhole and only gotten sorse under Barrett. He blames everyone else for his liberal socialist sh1tbag mismanagement.

By calling for more gun laws to “help” gun violence in Milwaukee [7th in nation] - I guess Mayor Barrett wants to catch up with Chicago’s gun violence rate.
Barrett and his ilk want stronger background checks (harass law abiding citizens).
Barrett refuses to discuss the fact that criminals will always “find” guns - guns laws are not a barrier to criminals.
Tom Barrett mayor of Milwaukee is a Democrat politician. Every elected democrat who’s asked will have something bad to say about Republicans running for office.
Is that really ‘news’?
Just like all good "more equal than other" socialist elites, he tells his urban constituents that it's the fault of others (certainly not him - the guy who's been in charge for so many years) that they live their lives under fear of violence.

That rail line you reference goes back to when Chicago was pitching for the Olympic games. Part of the venue was some of the events were to be held in Madison the capitol of Wisconsin. That proposed line would go through Milwaukee using the exisiting Amtrack Chicago to Milwaukee route on its way to Madistan to and from Chicago. But from Milwaukee to Madistan a new right of way would have had to be created. And the only reason of its creation need was because of the Olympics which never happened here (US). After which would be a drain on the state because of questionable ridership. The allocation of funds had more to do with a tip if the hat to Doyle the Godless democrat (in name only) party member then governor rather than Barrett.
However Barrett has another (light rail) street car route to nowhere he’s pitching. While he’s ignoring any support for the proposed Milwaukee Bucks basket ball arena which may wind up in suburban Waukesha.
I wish the Milwaukee voters would throw Mayor Tom Barrett out - ignore him and his cronies in City Hall and those Black leaders that support Barrett in order to enrich themselves.
The voters need to make alliances with the Republican Party in Wisconsin and get out from under the Democratic Party that feeds on the bigotry of low expectations.
And this "Black Lives Matter" that Barrett's parroting can only be for one reason - he hopes to encourage riots, and for that alone, he is a despicable human being.
