AUGUSTA, Ga. Coming into Sunday at the Masters, Jordan Spieth held a four-shot lead, and that was enough to ensure that this day would see a memorable story, one either of triumph at a young age or of gut-punch collapse.
What's more, Spieth became just the fifth player and first since 1976 to lead the tournament wire-to-wire, something not even Tiger has managed to do in his four Masters victories.

That did look painful when his club hit that tree root. Frankly when I saw it my first thought was that he wouldn’t finish, at least he did tough it out, although I am not buying the ‘bone popped out’ story.
No no no....they have lengthened Augusta National considerably and also made it more difficult after Tiger’s ridiculous first win by 10 strokes.
But you do have a point about equipment advances since Nicklaus era. Even I play better now with these Titanium drivers & multi material irons. Hahaha. Those small headed wooden drivers were very difficult to hit.
Thanks for the background information. WOW! (I’m still stunned at this performance)
Jordan Spieth has body of a 21 year old, nerves of a 17 year old and golf brain of a 40 year old.
That was due to rain, not by the greens keeper.
Notice how when tiger starts playing bad he develops an injury?

For those that don’t know about it IMO the best website for a sporting event of this stature

Enjoy
TW hates when he is not the center of attention and adulation.
Ya, me neither. Watched at our friends annual Masters Sunday party & should’ve heard the party when Tiger mentioned the bone popping out, him popping back in story..the room went silent when he came on for interview & then they were all, wait for it, wait for it...arghhh, no he didn’t just say that!!
It was hilarious..
Yep, I was rooting for him to hold the 19 under and set the new record.
It was quite a 72 hole exibition he put on.
Totally agree.
For example.
Try swinging as hard as you can with those old small headed real wood woods.
Today, the forgiveness of todays metals allows for massive swings with minimal worry of a mishit.
Fascinating, Balata. Thanks for that link. I did not know that.

Was that leading on every hole or on each day?
Not a Tiger fan but he finished top ten at the Masters. Impressive after not having played in a while. He will win again but he can not dominate the young kids like McElroy and Speith. That time is gone. Now I do like Phil who has been a bridesmaid at the majors so many times it has become expected.
Your welcome.
Yes, equipment has improved, but the top golfers have proved they are top athletes now as well.
True but some of those runoff shots would’ve bern in water during past Masters.
Remember the bikini wax comment from Gary McCord?

Jordan Spieth, 2015

It does seem that Tiger breaks down to the point he can only play a few tournaments before something happens.
Tiger loves the injury excuse.
