While addressing some 4,000 NRA members on Friday, Sen. Ted Cruz, the Texas Republican now running for the White House, challenged other Republicans running for office to prove they "bled" standing for principle while fighting Barack Obama, the Washington Examiner reported Saturday. Cruz, Pau Bedard said, mocked candidates in past primaries for being all talk but no action.
"There are a lot of good men and women thinking about running in 2016 and we've been around the block before," Cruz said in a teleprompter-free speech that lasted nearly 20 minutes. "We understand that in a Republican primary and everyone stands up and says, 'Gosh diddley, I'm the most conservative guy who ever lived.'"
But, Cruz added, "somehow actions don't always seem to follow those words." Now, he said, voters need to challenge primary contenders and dare them to "show their wounds," so to speak.
"For far too long politicians have said one thing and done another," he said. "Everyone of us should ask any candidate that shows up in front of you, 'You say you believe these principles, show me. When have you stood up and fought for them, when have you bled for them, and what have you accomplished?'"
"You know," Cruz added, "I had a former boss who used to say, 'If I'm ever accused of being a Christian, I'd like there to be enough evidence to convict me.'" He went on to say the same should apply to conservatives seeking office.
"The same is true of being a conservative," he said. "In a Republican primary every candidate is going to stand up and say, 'I oppose Obamacare.' The question we ought to ask is, 'Great, when have you stood up and fought to stop Obamacare!' And every candidate is going to say they

He’s going to mop the floor with the other candidates during the debates.

It is the “Conservative” pretenders who knifed the real fighters in the back, and now talk like they’re Ronald Reagan. But all they do is talk. Viva Cruz!

Boner would have replied to you Ted, but his face is so far up obama’s behind he couldn’t speak up...

Ted Cruz is Ronald Reagan, George Patton and Thomas Jefferson all in one Evangelical Christian package.
Ted Cruz has successfully argued before the SCOTUS ... won a 5-4 landmark decision on the Second Amendment ...
Ted Cruz calls "Radical Islamic Terrorism" by that same name ... will Ron-Rand Paul do the same ?
"NEVER".
Jeb Bush ?
A silver-spooned GOPe RINO-Liberal (less educated than Cruz) would be mincemeat in a GOP Primary debate against Cruz.
Typically, the political tactic against any "frontrunner" (such as Ted Cruz by Jan-2016) is for the other GOP candidates to gang-up against him in the debates.
That's a bad idea.
Remember when Newt Gingrich "eviscerated" Juan Williams during the 2012 GOP Primary debates (about black kids having a job at school) ?
Juan Williams NEVER challenged Newt again in that debate, nor did ANY OTHER MSM stooge make the mistake of trying to "embarrass" Newt Gingrich.
Ted Cruz will do the same to the other 2016 GOP primary opponents (one at a time) should they challenge him as a group.
It will not be pretty.
"Anyone" (Conservative or Liberal) who can win a landmark SCOTUS case is undisputably "brilliant". Period.
Neither Santorum, Huckabee, Ben Carson, Jindal, Trump, Jeb Bush, Rand Paul, or Carley Florina (sp) chick has the "intellectual street cred" and PASSION that Ted Cruz has.
Again, Ted Cruz is Ronald Reagan, George Patton and Thomas Jefferson all in one Evangelical Christian package.
In 2016 that's otherwise known as "undefeatable".

Until the GOP has a leader not named Rinse Peevus, they can forget any support from these quarters. No support, I said.

Having ten candidates on stage until Super Tuesday will make it very tough for Cruz to dazzle much.

I watched the video last night. When he said
“When have you stood up and fought for them, when have you bled for them, and what have you accomplished?’”
I cheered!
When he said for us to ask the elected to, “Show us your wounds, “ I knew that he had Christ the Resurrected on his mind. And since this is the Easter season, when we are reliving when He came back to earth and showed “doubting Thomas” the holes in his hands made from the nails of the cross, Cruz is putting us in touch with our deeper patriotism; we are a holy people as Americans, because we are ready and willing to spill our blood, to sacrifice for our beloved and righteous country that was founded on Judeo-Christian principles.
