Thats anarchy.
No, its just the result of an inaccurate generalization on your part.
An officer may not shoot someone in the back five times running away. That cop was at best deranged.
Get the other people on video and post that as well.
“Thats anarchy.”
Anarchy is also shooting at the cop first because you assume that if you don’t, you are dead anyway.
If we can’t trust people who we have empowered to carry guns and to use them legally in the upholding of the law...well, it’s game over.
“when you run from the cops your just asking for something bad to happen.”
This sounds suspiciously like, “if you aren’t doing anything wrong, you have nothing to worry about” - I’ve heard that somewhere before.
The officer should NOT have killed him, not over something as stupid as a broken headlight..but this guy should not have ran. We have been stopped by the cops on the way home from my cousins wedding a few months back, stopped us in Camarillo(Which around here at night is dead quiet) stopped my brother for tailgating and going 10 miles over the speed limit, my brother never got out of the car, he gave the officer everything he needed, he got the ticket and that was the end of it..you don’t get out of the car and run
In Washington State the law reads that a cop (or anyone) can shoot a person fleeing from a felony (so assualt, burglary, stolen vehicle, etc.) The idea of a threat to anyone doesn’t have to be there.
However, on other threads there has been discussions of Supreme Court rulings that in some cases will over rule those laws if it is deemed that a person’s rights have been violated.
If only they would do that here. Not only do they not, the law encourages tailgating with their stupid "two second" rule.
“It was a routine stop...”
And every black person who reads that will hear “...for Driving While Black” after that. And, if that isn’t suspicious enough behavior, he was driving a Mercedes! I work with fairly successful black co-workers and they drive nice cars and they tell me that they get followed and DWB’d on occasion, even though they are out the “troublemaking demographic”. Apparently, this is something that you just get used to when you are black and over 40. I have a problem with this. Everyone should have a problem with this.
Could be the car was stolen, that may be why the guy was running.
There is probably much we do not know yet, but it sure looks like the cop was out of order.
We had never been to that part of town before..since its near Santa Barbara, my cousin said the cops are always sitting on the side of the road waiting for someone to speed or tailgate..my Mom was telling my brother “Your getting too close to the car in front of you” but he kept on doing it, and I guess the officer saw it one too many times and gave him a ticket.
What do you mean “shooting at the cop first because you assume that if you don’t, you are dead anyways”. That cop was being 100% polite and professional to Scott during the traffic stop. Scott had no rational reason to be afraid in any manner or feel physically threatened. Then HE turned it into a chase, physical altercation and grabbing at the cop’s taser.
Again, I don’t think the cop acted appropriately and apparently let the heat of the moment and adrenaline keep him acting with a cool head. I’m not defending him or think that he should be allowed to remain on the police force. But this was not outright murder or racial discrimination and that is what the left is claiming it to be.
Oh, BS. My son was an Eagle Scout, and he got a whopper of a ticket for trying to get away from a speeding ticket on a motorcycle. People run some high adrenalin levels during a stop, and do some unpredictable and goofy things.
To this day he can't imagine why he tried it, but he does say the cops and he all laughed about it after he ran out of gas.
Shooting people in the back for voting Democrat could go a long way to stopping that too...
There, fixed it.
At this point, any claim as to why he was running is nothing but speculation. The one guy who knows for certain the real reason why he ran is no longer around to be asked.
Also, it sounds as if, as Mr. Scott is running, the passenger changes the radio station, seemingly unaware of what’s happening to his friend.
Exactly right. Well stated. Post of the day.
This is going to go very badly for him. He is already charged and fired, so the dead guys family will easily crush him in a lawsuit. Since he was fired he will be paying for his own defense. Even with liability insurance, most cops only carry $1 million, his family will be losing everything. He won't get the death penalty, but he will be spending a long time in prison with people that don't like cops.
“He was still running away. He was not a threat to the officer.”
The kid that shot my best friend in the forehead with a 45 Webley didn’t seem to be a threat either in fact he was being treated as an accident victim in a 1 car roll over. The he pulled the pistol from his boot and shot Troy in the face.
