New revelation helps exonerate Scooter Libby

In a book just released, The Story: A Reporter's Journey, Judith Miller, a key witness in the Libby prosecution, states that Patrick Fitzgerald had offered repeatedly to drop all charges against Lewis Libby if he would "deliver" Vice President Cheney to him. In addition, she charges that Fitzgerald manipulated her into incorrectly testifying about a critical conversation she had with Libby and withheld exculpatory evidence from both her and the defense in order to induce her mistaken testimony – testimony the prosecution knew was made because she was acting under a false belief....

[must read snip]

....Rizzo, of course, is focused only on the impact on the CIA. For the rest of us, the impact of this disastrous fiasco was the disruption of the president's War Council, where Libby was the advocate for the surge (in opposition to Armitage's boss, Colin Powell, who hid from the president for three years the source of leak). The surge was successful. Had this made-up leak not interrupted the process, it would have occurred earlier and probably saved many lives and resources. Had Libby falsely implicated Cheney to save his own skin, we'd never have had the surge, and Iraq would have been in much worse shape when Obama took office (and then precipitously and foolishly withdrew most of our troops).

It was a terrible error for President Bush ,who did commute Libby's sentence, to fail to pardon him, which would have expunged his wrongfully obtained conviction for perjury and obstruction of justice and allowed him to return to the practice of law. It's well past time, in any event, that the fairy-tale narrative of the vindictive outing of Valerie Plame be given a decent burial and Libby 's good name restored in the public record.

Never happen, and you know it.

Why isn’t Judith Miller in jail if she gave false testimony?

That whole Plame episode was absurd.

It sounds like the “false testimony” was manipulated out of her. IOW Fitzgerald witheld information from her in a way that she didn’t realize she was giving false testimony.

It’s revealed in the book she wrote that was just released.

Why does it take any revelations at all. Mr. big man dickey armatige already has been outed as the leaker. Scooter was wrongly sent down the river. What did I have for dinner last week on Tuesday? I can barely remember what I had last night let alone crap that happened two or three years ago. I guess keeping a certified journal on a daily basis would help. When I was working I kept pretty good notes of pertinent things with dates, times and persons involved with things to cover my butt. Not so much in my home life.

Why hasn't Judith Miller been screaming from the roof tops? Did she hold back just to sell books? I think she is worse than Fitzggerald and the rest.

'IOW Fitzgerald witheld information from her in a way that she didn’t realize she was giving false testimony.'

Duh, that's his job to do such. .Gov can lie to the commons to get a arrest and such.

Especially absurd when you consider Plame and her husband were listed in Who’s Who, along with their employers.

I have always wondered why Bush did not pardon Libby. My bet Karl Rove advised him. It is a black mark on a good man for President Bush in my opinion.

Fitzgerald the prosecuter, Np> Armitage the revealer,

most of the drive-by media and

The foreman of Libby's jury, who was a Democrap operative who drew intricate flow charts and convinced the rest of the stupid D.C. jurors (all Democraps) to convict,

all belong in the slammer themselves.

There has never been a bigger travesty of Justice than the Libby conviction.

Funny how this big lib Judy now has been dumped by the Dems and suddenly wants to come tell Fox and the Repubs all about it. How can someone manipulate you into lying on the stand about another person?? She knew Libby was innocent but she didn’t care because he was a Repub.

The Dems were guilty but who gets to pay? Now our country is paying dearly for the many many shenanigans of the media people just like her.

Travesty of justice. Armitage, Powell and Fitzgerald should have been the ones to do the perp-walk.

Bush was scared sh**less of the CIA. Remember how Condoleeza Rice remarked that she was forced to retract words in Bush’s SOU speech to the effect that British intelligence believed that Saddam had sought to obtain yellowcake from Niger? She said she had been threatened by the CIA.

My own assumption is that the CIA had something on Bush’s father. Giving Libby a full pardon would have gotten Bush into deep trouble with the CIA.
Bush said himself that he thought that Cheney had gone too far in “meddling” with the CIA. The CIA was out to get Cheney, and Fitzgerald was their tool.
