The Phi Kappa Psi fraternity at the University of Virginia said Monday that it is moving forward with a possible lawsuit against Rolling Stone magazine in the wake of the now-retracted "Rape on Campus" article.
"After 130 days of living under a cloud of suspicion as a result of reckless reporting by Rolling Stone magazine, today the Virginia Alpha Chapter of Phi Kappa Psi announced plans to pursue all available legal action against the magazine," the fraternity said in a statement.
A spokesman for the fraternity said there has not yet been a formal decision about when a lawsuit will be filed.
The announcement came one day after the magazine published a damning external review of the editorial processes that resulted in the article's publication. The article had alleged that a freshman student named Jackie had been violently gang-raped during a Phi Kappa Psi frat party in September 2012.

Normally wouldn’t care, but shadenfreude overcame me.
I hope they own that rag.
It should be “The Kappa Alpha Psi Stone” after this is over.
Good deal. They should be sued.
Oops , I mean ‘The Phi Kappa Psi Stone”
I wish them the best of luck!
The Kappa Goes Rolling Along
The author of this hit piece and the mag apologized to their readers and to rape victims everywhere.
They did not apologize to the people and groups they’d actually defamed.
Me, too. They really need to be taken down a bit over this one. They didn’t even bother to check even the barest minimum amount.
Sounds like they knew it was actionable.
Otter: Take it easy, I'm pre-law.
Boon: I thought you were pre-med.
Otter: What's the difference?
Nothing less than the editorial staff in bloody shark infested waters will satisfy me.
I hope they use what’s in that satchel.
It won’t take much to put ‘em outta business!
Own it? No. Put them out of business.
The charge ought to extend to all ‘media’ organizations that took up the Rolling Stone BS and perpetuated it with just the same irresponsible attitude to the facts!
Now this I regard as good news. Any lawsuits against any liberal media company are in the best interest of society. I wish we could sue them all out of existence, or at least until they change their biased ways.
Looks like they’re escalating.
Good!I hope this miserable publication gets sued into oblivion for its staff being the lying sacks of s*** they are. The reporter and editors who wrote and published this garbage should never get jobs in publishing again. This wasn’t an “honest mistake”. This was an agenda-driven campaign that derailed on its fundamental mistruths.
Rolling Stone will likely be settling very soon, if its owners are smart.
