The brown and white border collie had caught Beth Stenbergs attention several times as she drove her two sons to hockey practice in Idaho Falls in February. The lone female dog was a frequent sight on the edge of Interstate 15 between Fort Hall and Blackfoot.

While the dogs have a happy ending story, it would have been better if she’d picked up the mama before she was shot.
Our big slobber bucket was in the middle of the road when I first saw him. He had cars lined up easing around him. I got out to get him and had to crawl under the car to pull him out. Flew home, honked all the way from the street to get hubby out, threw the giant ball of mud at him and boogie to get to work on time. If I’d not been there, he wouldn’t have made it another 5 minutes. All our fur babies have similar stories.

My wife and I go outside to smoke. That dog figured out what we mean when when we spell S-M-O-K-E.

That is a pretty dog. Mine is a tri-color but is freaked out by cameras and will not let her picture be taken. If she sees somebody pointing a camera or cell phone at her she either runs away or turns her back until you put the cell phone or camera down. It is the darnedest thing.

Your dog must have been a film star in a previous life. Still hating the paparazzi.

I have a rough-coat tricolor BC named Molly. Smartest dog I have ever had, by far. I have seen her learn things from a single trial numerous times.
She used to be able to herd squirrels, she was so fast and agile. She still tries, but she is 14 & 1/2, and the squirrels just laugh at her and stroll off to the nearest tree when she chases them.
She still loves to go for rides in the car. She is my constant companion. I know that day is coming, and I dread it.
BCs are the greatest dogs.

They are great dogs. I can’t imagine why somebody would shoot one.
