Investigation confirms Scott Walker bought a sweater for just $1
Business Insider ^ | April 3, 2015 | Leslie Larson

The discount savvy of Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) has been verified as legitimate.

The Republican bragged to a New Hampshire audience on March 14 that thanks to his thrifty practices, he was able to purchase a men's sweater for $1 at a Kohl's department store in the Granite State.

.....In a joint investigation with the Wisconsin Journal Sentinel, researchers visited a Kohl's store in Glendale, Wisconsin, and combed through the clearance racks to find a walnut colored "Chaps Twisted Button Mock Sweater," that closely resembled the pullover worn by Walker for his March event.

"There we found plenty of Chaps sweaters marked between 80 and 90 percent off -- an even deeper cut than the 70% Walker cited when describing the deal. Some of the sweaters we found were originally priced at $70 and marked down to $7," PolitiFact reported Friday.

"Now, that's not $1. But Walker did say he used his 'Kohl's Cash' — a coupon of sorts that is generated based on how much a customer purchased in an earlier visit to the store," it continued. "Thus, he could have easily gotten one for $1 out-of-pocket. We rate the claim True."..

This is a great article for Walker.

Who except the wealthy elite can't identify with bargain hunting? And if he's that frugal with his own money doesn't it at least imply that he might also be that way with public money?

I’m pretty sure they were not confirming Walker savvy buying skills, more like trying to catch him in a lie..

Oh, for crying out loud. Anybody who shops at Kohl’s regularly knows that this kind of deal is available regularly. Nobody in Wisconsin doubted this claim. Indeed, I’ve shopped at Kohl’s when my whole bill was discounted to practically nothing through a combination of percents off, Kohl’s Cash, and other offers.

Of course, you have to realize that Kohl’s marks their merchandise UP before they discount it DOWN. But Kohl’s is a Wisconsin corporation, so it’s a win, win when Walker boasts about his bargains.

FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest jping list.

I don’t think Herb Kohl is associated in any way with Kohl’s Dept. Stores. I think that his money came from the (now defunct) Kohl’s Grocery stores and major real estate investments (land). I think the department stores are/were owned by Kohl’s cousins, but I could be wrong about that.

For one thing, Herb Kohl owned Northridge Shopping Center, and there never was a Kohl’s store there.

I was a volunteer for a kids fishing derby and went to REI for prize donations. I was told that we (the lake)allowed the killing of fish and also allowed duck hunting, so they wouldn’t help.

Coupon? Did someone say...COUPON? Ahem! Well, I actually have Scott Walker beat. A few years ago I had a stack of Kohl's coupons for $10 off on anything with no lower limits. I ended up getting a whole bunch of $10 T-shirts for FREE after using the coupon. Also a FREE jackknife. Then I gave my wife and her friend a whole bunch of those coupons and they also went on a Kohl's shopping spree. That coupon deal was so good, I never saw Kohl's offer it again. Now they will still offer $10 coupons but with a lower spending limit.

I would tell Scott walker to head to Walgreens today. The final day to score 50 cent cans of Arizona Tea and 99 cents for a dozen large eggs. Then use coupons to head over to Publix, buy the BOGO hamsteaks which will be only a little over a buck each after coupons. On April 15, Tax Day, Mr. Walker can enjoy half price cheeseburgers at Sonic Burger. I understand that Walker is allergic to dogs so he won't be able to use my dog food coupon tips to score the FREE Dentastix below.

I shop at Kohls a lot! There are plenty of times, I use the 30% coupons and then Kohls cash and walk out having not spent a penny. Granted, you spend to get the Kohls cash, but usually, I have a 30% coupon and am buying clearance anyway. Christmas shopping is wonderful at Kohls!
I am wearing a t-shirt right now that I used a rewards $10 coupon on. I paid about $.55, I think.

So, they cannot find obama’s birth certificate, but can confirm the possibility of a $1 sweater. lol
