"Paredes said Democrats’ support for same-sex marriage and abortion rights — along with Reid’s shilling for the gambling industry — ran in opposition to the church’s positions on those issues.

“I have no problem with an average Mormon in the pew who supports the Democratic Party because one of its issues or positions appeals to him,” Paredes wrote. “However, occupying a national Democratic leadership position is an entirely different matter.”

I can name you two score or more prominent Democrat politicians with a greater or equally long string of corruption scandals, most of them still holding office and/or held in high esteem by the Democrat Party.

These scandals have been brewing for years. The "beatdown by the exercise machine", on the other hand, was fairly recent.

Last time I checked, Marriott had a significant interest in gambling ... was one of the largest dispensers of liquor on the planet ... freely sold tobacco products ... tolerated prostitution ... sold pay-per-view adult videos ... and provided unblocked internet access to pornographic websites. Is Paredes now condemning this leading LDS backed institution?

Also, I have been unable to recall a single instance where Reid was in a position of leadership ... and thus able to provide political favors, cover and public funds to the LDS Church ... where Dirty Harry was remanded by LDS leadership for any of his loathsome practices. Can you think of an example?

I couldn't find anything except some teacher from BYU calling for this Bishop to apologize....but nothing from the Top Mormons here in Utah at the Headquarters....I'm sure there would have been something said but quietly and directly to Mr. Reid.

I returned to Utah 2 years ago and the Church is the same as it was when I left 35 years ago....but then to one thing I learned growing up in Utah and around the Church (I'm Catholic) is when the Leaders don't like something, its not something the news talks about either...
