On March 22 a man who opened fire on children and adults in a Philadelphia barbershop was shot and killed by a citizen with a concealed carry permit.
The armed citizen had been walking by the barbershop when he heard gunshots. He ran inside and shot the gunman.
According NBC Philadelphia, the incident arose after two men got into a fight in the barbershop. An unnamed 40-year-old man fought with another customer then pulled out a gun and started shooting.
Police said the man fired on customers and barbers, and some of those customers were children. As the 40-year-old man was firing, the citizen with a concealed permit entered the barbershop and shot the gunman in the chest.
The 40-year-old was transported to Presbyterian Hospital where he died from his wounds.
No one else was injured thanks to the armed citizens intervention. Philadelphia Police Captain Frank Llewellyn said, He responded and I guess he saved a lot of people in there.

This was all over the MSM! (Do I need the tag?)
Just a question- is it legal to shoot someone who is shooting others if it is not self-defense?
good shoot bump
If you walk into a shooting...that’s self defense
Barbershop... prompted by a fight... not sure that qualifies as a typical “mass shooting”. It’s not like someone waiting and planning for weeks to go after a school full of kids and teachers, with hundreds of potential victims. Even a large barber shop is only going to have 12-14 people at a given moment.
Most rules are written to allow for the defense of self and others against the threat of death.
For most states, the laws are written to cover self-defense AND defense of others. If it is legal for you to shoot if it is happening to you, it is legal to shoot when it is happening to someone else. The primary factor is if there is an imminent threat of lethal harm.
(Rape, while usually non-lethal, is still considered to qualify in every state, I believe.)
If that was my kid in there he saved I would gladly take his place in the courtroom, stand for his trial and serve his term if needed.
Excellent question
depends each state laws but MOST states allow for self defense OR imminent danger to others
Another argument for “PACKING”. Now as for registering your weapons with the government? You had better think that over real quick. Cause anything that a government can give you, they can take away just as fast. By registering you weapon with the government, the government can all of a sudden confiscate your weapons, all they need to do is pass a law, and all you weapons registrants will be ordered to turn your weapons in, or face the consequences.
It is in Florida.
You defend others “at your peril”, but this was a legitimate use of force. “At your peril” means that if you’re mistaken about the situation and harm somebody who wasn’t a threat, you’re the aggressor and can be criminally liable.
Yes and Yes.
Yes, its not self defense but is defense of another person. Depends on the state.
Stops great bodily harm which is the key.
Isn't that what we are supposed to do? Otherwise, we will be no different than the Wild West!
In other words, a guy attacking someone with a knife or lead pipe would be fair game.
It’s encouraging to know that the Concealed Carry individual didn’t run in yelling HALT or DON’T SHOOT or some other stupid drivel.
He shot the bastard and saved society years and years of trouble and expense; as well as probably saving his own life as well.
When it’s time to take out the trash; just take it out. And as for the perp; the Good Book says, “The way of the transgressor is hard.” Amen.
Philadelphia Police Captain Frank Llewellyn said, He responded and I guess he saved a lot of people in there.
YOU GUESS???
Effen brilliant.
In Pennsylvania it is.
