HOUSTON Rick Perry, the former governor of Texas who is considering a second run for the White House after his politically disastrous 2012 campaign, sought to show off his domestic and foreign policy chops at a breakfast with reporters here on Tuesday. But he was silent when asked about Senator Ted Cruz, the conservative firebrand who announced his campaign for president on Monday.
At the event, which was hosted by Bloomberg, Mr. Perry led a wide-ranging discussion about the Texas economy, border security, the strengths and weaknesses of past American presidents and of President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia. Afterward, Mr. Perry was asked by reporters to comment about Mr. Cruzs announcement as he walked out of the room, but he offered no response.
Earlier, he highlighted his own ability to appeal to Republicans, Democrats and independents.

Hosted by Bloomberg and boasting of how he appeals to democRATs? Good show La Raza Rick.
Wonder if he’s beginning to have second thoughts?
Well, I am not interested in Rick Perry at all.
Perry backed Cruz’s opponent, Dewhurst in the Senate run. Dewhurst is the epitome of a GOPe republican. Rick needs to go retire back to Paintrock and grow soybeans.
Well, as we know, if Perry had his way Cruz would never have made it to Washington. He doesn’t like Cruz because Cruz is a conservative. We also know Perry endorsed Mitch McConnell for reelection, the same Mitch McConnell who publicly waged war on the TEA Party.
Ted Cruz is a TEA Party conservative. Perry is neither TEA Party or conservative.
Play nice.
I got flamed by a pro Perry back on January 10th. I accused them of being “Mrs. Perry” and they have never posted on FR again.
Saw Rick Perry at CPAC - he had no buzz around him, no one following him, it’s like he wasn’t even there.
Cruz has sucked the air out of Rand Paultard and La Raza Rickie.
Mitt Romney pretty much demolished Rick Perry’s chances in the 2012 debates, when Perry could not marshal his thoughts quite quickly enough under a rapid-fire from Romney - that is what I remember. Now, Rick Perry might have a most excellent analytical mind, and a first-class political resume, but all that went for naught the moment he stumbled in naming regulatory agencies he would eliminate in his first term. He knew what they were, he just could not name them off the top of his head in a smooth and assured manner.
It was even worse than that. Perry had the floor, and no one was pressuring him, but he stumbled over his own brain matter anyway.
It's the moment that ended any hopes he might ever entertain, of winning a presidential election.
Rick blew it in 2012. Don’t see him coming back from that.
“...and they have never posted on FR again.”
Wow. What a loser. Definitely a liberal.
I think Perry demolished himself with his have a heart comment regarding illegal aliens. If you get a chance to hear the audio listen to the reaction of the audience; a mixture of disappointment and disgust.
Perry is another cheap labor importer.
Rubio has disqualified himself by scheming with Schumer against the citizens.
I’m not voting for anyone unwilling to uphold the rule of law.
If we don’t want our country flooded with fraudulently documented foreigners we have to stop supporting politicians who want to assist fraudulently documented foreigners flooding the country.
Living in Texas I see Perry as a somewhat benign crony capitalist. Under his reign the size of Texas government has grown sizably. For governor could we do better, certainly, but we could also do a lot worse. For President I already see much better in Ted Cruz. So from a Texan to Perry, don’t bother.
To be fair, you have to remember that Perry was on pain meds after having back surgery shortly before that debate. It might have been wiser to skip that particular debate rather than try to participate when hampered by pain and narcotics, but you can hardly use that as an example of Perry's ability to handle questions under fire...
Go away La Raza Rick. Go retire to Guatemala.
That excuse has long since been worn out. Governor Mumbles is terrible under fire. Here is another example.
For another see my tagline. Who in their right mind would say such a thing about Hillary? Someone who can't think on their feet, that's who.
