".....John Dewey,a great philosopher of the last century, stressed this key point. Democracy should be the goal of education,he wrote, and education for democracy requires a community of learning in which members learn from each other. Educational institutions should be shaped to nurture communal values, abilities, and understandings. This can happen only if students are constantly collaborating with others both within and outside their places of learning. In the process,a democratic community of learning is created that provides education for a lifetime of civic engagement.
These are truths for all institutions of education, but particularly for colleges and universities. Those institutions have unique roles in our society with regard to debates on public-policy issues generally, and on hot-button political issues particularlythose issues that are so dominated elsewhere by cross-fire charges filled with much heat and little light. Higher-education institutions have an obligation to prepare students with the abilities to engage actively in debates on public-policy issues,to represent their views to public-policy makers, and to speak out vigorously in support or in protest on public-policy decisions.
It is a special responsibility of colleges and universities to educate students to learn to base their arguments on evidence and to root those arguments in reason. At times,of course, like the rest of us,they find themselves feeling with overwhelming passion that they are right and others are not only wrong but immoral. It is vital that universities take special care to educate students to hear the voices of those with whom they disagree on public-policy issuesnot simply to raise their own voices more loudlyand to respond with reasoned analysis, not simply appeals to emotion....
....Sadly, at least for now, nonpartisan education for democracy is in serious jeopardy in Arizona,North Carolina, and Wisconsin. Only their local citizens can turn this. Only those of us in the rest of the country can ensure that the issue does not spread.

Forbes will post any old drivel (however leftist it may be).
Whatever modern public education in America may be, it most certainly is not “nonpartisan education for democracy” right now. It is complete left-wing partisan indoctrination.
John Dewey was not great. He was the architect of a philosophy which has dumbed down America resulting in a populace who would vote for Obama.
and these pointy headed THEORISTS have the gall to call us Flat Earthers?
They know their Federal matching grants [to churn out socialist policy] are under attack.
Doesn't this fly in the face of the whole mantra of "diversity?" LOL.
Instead of teaching students HOW to think, they are teaching students WHAT to think.
The ‘60s Communists and Socialists were hired to teach at the universities. The sheeple sent their children and their money to these political molesters, and we see the results in the Waters World segments on O’Reilly’s show.
I call BS on this Forbes’ BS.
Know the TRUTH. The TRUTH will set you free.
Notice that the “T” word is not used here—they don’t care for it at all.
It’s just “consensus”—that’s OUR CONSENSUS (NOW SHUT UP!!!)
And, of course, the way to do this is to hire only faculty members who spout the same leftist drivel as everybody else in their department - but to be sure plenty of them are black, gay, transgender and otherwise "diverse."
