A topless woman protesting the Conservative governments anti-terror bill was ejected from the House of Commons on Monday during a discussion about honouring Vietnamese refugees.
The protester, Neda Topaloski with the Canadian wing of the international Femen movement, was in the sitting in public gallery, with two guards standing nearby on either side of her, she said. One of the security guards stepped out briefly, so seeing an opportunity, she took off her shirt. The officers gave chase and Ms. Topaloski ran about the gallery, screaming: C-51 is war on freedom.

Ah, a FEMEN activist. Please, no pictures. I beg of you.

“Neda Topaloski”
C’mon, really?
Lostatopski? Really?
Yeah, really.
"My name is Neda Topaloski."
"Topaloffsky."
"No, Topalosky."
"My name is Bond. James Bond."
Abe.
Groovy, baby!
Fortunately, none of the cameras in the chamber were pointed her way.
Trashy woman just wants attention.
I thought it would be better to do it in the morning because then it would be in the news all day But there was no media.
Good job, Einstein.
Send her to ISIS
I'd rate that face at about two Medium Milk-Bones.
Neda Toplofski?....
The jokes write themselves...
Hey... Dogs love milkbones...
And where was the Sergeant at Arms and his weapon?
Just a video and she wasn’t in view. She screeches like a rabid Harpy, though.
That was a bit of a sideshow, but this is not your standard left vs right political fight. A coalition of leftist and libertarian-conservative citizens has developed out of widespread concern that this supposed anti-terrorist legislation is a Trojan horse for all sorts of internet censorship and further erosion of civil liberties in Canada. At this point, it would seem, a lot of the conservative base remain either complacent about the legislation or else they haven’t had a chance to read it or think about it much.
The fact that the centrist Liberals are generally not opposing the legislation should be a tip-off as to what kinds of abuses could lie ahead. As Connie Fournier, founder of Free Dominion, says, even if you accept that this government would not abuse the legislation, a future government might turn it against conservatives.
To put it in an American context, it is the sort of thing John McCain might support but some others on the political right would not want to see, despite some good features that could assist in the war against ISIS militants. On balance, I find it to be disturbing and potentially unconstitutional and contrary to the rule of law.
But yeah, the boob-lady was on some other mission, freedom to show her boobs. To be fair, they turned out to be her best feature as far as we have seen.
Thanks Flatus. I just took a Melatonin and don’t need any wild dreams.
Last night it was the old “final exam and I didn’t study” nightmare.
