Local news tried desperately to keep the gay part hidden from publc over life of story. But once before the judge they couldn't protect the gay community any longer. Have to wonder what percentage of murders and abductions are related to LGBT rains commuting the crime for sexual reasons? Bet big money it is very high.

I had to click on another linked story to find out this was an Anglican priest. The word "Anglican" did not appear in this article.

I truly hope he repented before he breathed his last. So sad. What a shameful way to die.

The article doesn’t mention the Priest’s religious affiliation, but a bit of searching confirms the impression I had from his photo: he is an “Anglican,” i.e., Episcopalian. Although from his church’s website it looks as if they hold their services in various churches and perhaps he didn’t have one of his own—Methodist, Seventh Day Adventist, etc. Maybe an Episcopalian who got kicked out of his church for disagreeing with the Bishop about something? Who knows?

There is no such thing as an Anglican "priest" ...

Sad story, regardless ... in so many ways ....

Well, I get your point. He is not a recipient of the Sacrament of Holy Orders licitly and validly conferred.

However the word "priest" does have a larger semantic field than just "Catholic priest."

That was my guess. The website looks conservative, and Anglican Bishops usually kick priests out for being too conservative.

I have an old friend who was kicked out of the Episcopal Church in Greenwich, Connecticut, many years ago for refusing to preach sermons favoring gay marriage and lesbian bishops. Some of his parishioners left with him and fortunately were rich enough to start up a new, storefront church where he could continue to follow Anglican traditions. I think he calls himself an Evangelical Anglican or something.

"Anglican" in the USA is usually used for conservative congregations and groups which have left the (very liberal) Episcopal denomination--often over objections to homosexual ordination (and fundamentally the authority of the Bible).

They still practice the old Episcopalian/Anglican liturgy of worship, use the Book of Common Prayer, and have the same Church polity (organization) of bishops, priests, and deacons.

Many Anglicans are under foreign Archbishops (like Rwanda, or Nigeria) but these are usually simultaneously part of the Anglican Church of North America, anglicanchurch.net--an orthodox Christian denomination in competition with the (apostate) Episcopal Church.

That this priest who was murdered was a secret homosexual is very sad--seeing as he was a part of the conservative Anglicans--who utterly reject homosexual behavior as sinful.

He should have come out, most churches these days would have accepted him, his wife probably would too. Seems there are lots of stories of priest meeting in the woods for things like this, weird.

Right: I understand the wider use of the word "priest" in religious semantic.

However, it is always a good opportunity to catechize and evangelize simultaneously when one can.

{... though I do not believe you need any, Mrs. Don-o ;)}
