Congratulations, Internet haters! Well done, keepers of the one-true-way-to-talk-about-race!
If we don't tamp down the backlash against Starbucks "Race Together" campaign, I fear that no major corporation will even try to talk about race again -- for maybe 10 or 20 years.
Is that really what we want?
Look, I get it. Asking baristas to hold conversations about race is a lot to demand of already hard-working employees. Not to mention, the topic should probably be called "systematic racism," not just "race." And there are legitimate questions about what Starbucks could realistically hope to accomplish, here.
But for crying out loud! In the past 48 hours, racial justice activists have spilled more digital ink criticizing Starbucks for trying to fight racism than they have against other (actually racist) companies. The truth is that we cannot have it both ways. We cannot demand that companies address race, and then attack them when they try.
Yes, it seems like harmless fun to pile on or retweet the snark. At some point, all of us have enjoyed the cheap thrill one gets by kicking around a big company online. But the cost this time is that no corporation will want to do anything creative or constructive on racial subjects for a very long time....

In other words Mr. Jones, when communists call for the discussion of race under the guise of bringing an end to racial problems, it’s very obvious the actual intention is to further racial strife and conflict.
That way you can build on your fundamental strategy of splitting groups and profiting on the power dividends.
Are the companies that do DNA genome testing going to start talking to me about coffee?
Race is a liberal proxy for ideology.
In October 1988, Nobel poet Tony Morrison wrote an article in the New Yorker titled “Clinton as the first black president”, saying he was “Blacker than any actual black person who could ever be elected in our children’s lifetime.” What then is “black”?
When Time magazine’s Jack White calls Supreme Court Justice Thomas, “the scariest of all the hobgoblins”, saying “Washington seems to be filled with white men who make black people uneasy”, then what is “black”?
On September 15, 2014, talk show host Sean Hannity interviewed Barack Obama’s half brother, Mark Obama Ndesandjo about his new book. While Ndesandjo’s father was Barack Obama, Sr., he has a different mother, Ruth (Baker) Ndesandjo, an American Jew from Boston. Ruth, like Barack Obama’s mother, Stanley Ann Dunam, was Caucasian.
During the course of the interview, Mark Ndesandjo said that he thought Barack Obama was ashamed of Mark’s “whiteness” and that maybe Barack was a little bit ashamed of his “blackness”.
It should be more than clear now that race has become a liberal proxy for ideology. When liberals assume that anyone who is conservative Christian is “white” and everyone else is “of color” or “black”, they can then put on the mantle of moral righteousness. When a person objects to this meme, it must be “racism”. Of course, that is a lie.
ahahahah YES we CAN!!!
Black Racism Matters!
So! You don’t want your latte with a double shot of propaganda.
Well, before I go in there, I already know what they’re doing, so ... I’ve got my “conversation starters” too.
One is ... “I didn’t come in here to talk to you!” ... LOL ... I’ll come up with a few others. My thing will be to “engage them” so they’ll know what a stupid idea it was ... :-) ...
You bet, and I’ll make myself real offensive to let them know! ... :-) ...
Bingo!
I going to say, “Great idea! Let’s start with black violence, especially against white people, but let’s include violence against Hispanics and Jews, too.”
Van, who is this “we” who needs to do some “tamping down” and how exactly is this this “tamping down” going to occur? I don’t suppose you’re trying to send a signal to the Obama-lapdog-media that they need to suppress the story regarding almost universal ridicule being heaped on SBUX? If so, I guess you can suppress that story for Ma and Pa Kettle who get their “news” only from the alphabet nightly propaganda outlets and the drones who get their putative “news” from NPR, but good luck with suppressing social media and the rest of the Internet, because that’s where the real story is happening.
I would not trust Van Jones to tell me when to change my underwear.
He can go fly a kite.
Innovative solutions?
"Communism Now, Comrades" is not an innovative solution.
Sorry.
If I went to Starmucks, I would order my coffee black and bitter.
Liberals idea of ‘discussion’ is that we whites feel guilty and apologize for things we never did, any other talk about race is considered whites harassing non-whites, especially in the work place.
I’ll still go there because I don’t pick products on the base of politics, but just what I personally like ... but I don’t have any problem telling any company or employee off, if they get into politics with me.
I’m not so stupid and lazy as to not be able to make my own coffee. I am certainly not stupid enough to pay 20 times going rate for bad coffee at a liberal funding company.
