White House Antagonism Toward Netanyahu Grows
NYT ^ | March 20, 2015 | By JULIE HIRSCHFELD DAVIS

WASHINGTON — The White House is stepping up its antagonism toward Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu despite his victory in this week’s elections, signaling that it is in no rush to repair a historic rift between the United States and Israel.

The sharpened tone indicates that the Obama administration may be re-evaluating its relationship with its closest ally in the Middle East, having lost patience with Mr. Netanyahu in the closing days of an election campaign in which he spotlighted deep disagreements with President Obama over a Palestinian state and a nuclear deal with Iran.

“You reach a tipping point,” said Daniel C. Kurtzer, a former American ambassador to Israel and Egypt. “It’s the culmination of six and a half years of frustration, including some direct hits at the president’s prestige and the office of the presidency.”

The aggressiveness underlines a calculation by Mr. Obama that an international accord with Iran to rein in its nuclear program is within reach despite Mr. Netanyahu’s adamant opposition, and that there is little value in being more conciliatory toward him.

And, domestically, the administration is risking the alienation of a core Democratic constituency of Jewish voters, in part banking on the fact that many of them also are upset with Mr. Netanyahu.

“In a way, the administration has already won,” said Aaron David Miller, a former Middle East adviser to Democratic and Republican administrations. “If you get agreement by the end of March, it will be historic in nature, it will have demonstrated that the administration is prepared to willfully stand up to Republican opposition in Congress and to deal with members of its own party who have doubts, and has withstood Israeli pressure.”

I'm not as impressed with the 'pubs as everyone else is.

Where are these GOP-e cheerleaders of whom you seem to speak?

If they'd put in the same effort to stop and reverse the invasion of the US, to stop Obama's illegal regime change chaos in too many countries to list, to push back on the crazy budget deficits and debt, then I'd be impressed.

The GOP-e are morons. So stipulated.

They put the interests of Israel ahead of our own.

WTF are you talking about? Do you support the Regime?

If only someone had beaten this punks arse when he was little.
Often, and with enthusiasm.
He would still be a pos, but he likely wouldn’t be such a petulant child about everything.

I detect a desperation from Obama to do the will of the Supreme Leader of Iran. As if he doesn’t, there will be hell to pay for him personally. It’s not smart, as a president, to have such a damning dubious past that can bring about your ruin.

I'm not speaking against what the Republicans have done to defend Israel against Obama's efforts to destabilize the country and to stop a treaty which Obama was planning to pass without them.

What I'm speaking out against is that Republicans haven't been as effective or forceful about stopping the invasion of the US or stopping Obama's insane budgets.

I'd also like it if they emphasized the overall issue of US interference in campaigns and protests in too many countries to name.

If Boehner had stood up like this about stopping the invasion of the US or "closing the federal government" rather than cave on the budget and the deficit, then I'd be impressed.

At least Geo. W. Bush knew the difference between himself and the office. This character doesn't have a clue that he doesn't have a clue.

- And that's being Pollyannaish.

Samantha Power's "Responsibility to Protect" amateurism would have U.S. troops defending pre-1967 borders forced on Jerusalem, and why should the latter embrace that kind of "peace" (the peace of a common grave) if the pique of any given U.S. president makes U.S. policy inconstant?

Meanwhile, the concerns and opium dreams of that last illegitimate child of Adolf Hitler and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem, the Muslim Brotherhood, are of more importance to this government than preventing a world war.

Obama has always hated Israel.

Bibi's election has only given him more opportunity to reveal it.

However, Israel is the apple of God’s eye, and it will never be eliminated. The Bible says so - Bozo is messing with God now, and I know who will win that battle. He has been shaking his ugly fist in God’s face for a very long time - I sure wouldn’t want to be zero and face the judgment of God. If not in this life - then in the next.

Barry to the Israelis - "You can have all the election you like as long as you elect the person I approve... or else..."

He is trying to punish the jewish nation for electing the leader that he had rejected.

In a lot of African "democracies", they hold elections but they are only allowed to vote for a specific candidate. This is probably Barry's idea of a democracy.

“Traitor Obama is going all in with his Muslim Brotherhood buddies in their Islamic holy war against America and Israel.”

That sums it up very well. I’m the exact opposite of Obama. When ill winds blow, I’ll stand with the Israelis against the Muslims. Our president is either a fool or a traitor (maybe both!).

It seems to me there are three points of view on this: the first, articulated here by The New York Times, is that Obama is honestly attempting to reach an accord with Iran and both parties negotiate in good faith to produce an ultimate agreement which will obviate the danger of Iran getting the bomb; the second, one that I hold as someone who has been posting for years that Obama is a communist and actively antagonistic to the traditional values the United States, believes that Obama is acting traitorously to those traditional interests because a powerful and "exceptional" America acting as the policeman of the world stands as the great obstacle to the onrush of a socialist world wide utopia; third, Obama is actively advancing jihadist interests because he is either a closet Muslim or his anti-colonial instincts drive him to support Third World Brown people over first world white people.

I do not pretend to be able to psychoanalyze the man nor do I presume to know whether he is acting as a communist, jihadist, or anti-colonialist but everything we know about Barack Obama, from his biography and from his actions in office, tell us that he is not negotiating in good faith for his country to whom he owes the highest fiduciary duty.

The problem is our point of view of the nature of the man never gets exposure in any establishment media. The great American electorate is not confronted with the possibility that their own president is a traitor. That means something more than he is a politician who has a political philosophy alien in to them, it means that he wants to destroy the American system. It means that the national consensus created by Pearl Harbor and nurtured in the wake of the dissent of the Iron Curtain is being surreptitiously swept away while the people believe that what is happening today is is a spat between two politicians.

This is not a problem between Netanyahu and Brack Obama, this is a problem between Barack Obama and the American people but the American people don't even know what game is being played and they certainly have no idea of the endgame.

the culmination of six and a half years of frustration

For the American people!

It’s not going to get any better,
probably worse, as Obama puts into
practice the elements of SOCIALISM
he espouses.
