A reader sent me a copy of the cover of the new University of North Georgia continuing education catalog asked with this question, “Are they crazy?”
It’s a valid question given the awkwardness of the image and its pairing with a headline that asks, “Why follow when you can lead?”
The illustration features two exultant white men — dressed like missionaries for some reason — well ahead of a woman in heels wearing what looks to be an ensemble from “Dynasty” and a black male in more casual attire who appears to be struggling to finish the race.
I thought the cover was a parody, a sort of Mad Men meets Peachtree Road Race. It’s not, although there are some mad men and women commenting on the cover on Facebook.
The cover is getting some national attention. (See Raw Story.)
The illustration has inspired some social media lampooning.
Among my favorites:
-If you look a bit further back, you’ll see the starting line for the winners was 20 yards ahead of the official starting line for everyone else.
-I guess the person with the physical disability is just plain way back of that pack.
-The two guys in front are SAE members running for the bus.

It’s racist to ever show a white guy beating a black guy. Blacks must always come out on top. In everything. 100% of the time. It’s only fair.
The only way this would come close to passing muster: One white women, one asian woman, one black woman, one black man, one white man, one asian man, one white women in a wheel chair, one black woman in a wheel chair one asian woman in a wheel chair, one black man in a wheel chair, one white man in a wheel chair, one asian man in a wheel chair ... all crossing the finish line at the same time.
And yet some minority not covered would complain.
This is NOT a big deal ... the white guy in front is pre-op transgender, and the other one is 1/32 Cherokee ...
They certainly do in the Lowes Home Improvement commercials.....
Maybe some white people are just plain sick and tired of the blatant black racism and just say, “F*** it ... we’re gonn’a frikkin’ win whether you agree to it or not” !!!
the “black” guy is doing okay for only having One Arm and One Leg, I must say.
If anyone makes a fuss about this, the proper response on the part of the school is a raised middle finger. Chances are they will cave and grovel instead.
“Men” and “women” should not be allowed at all. Everyone must be gender-nonconforming.
Yep! And that still wouldn’t please everyone. Should just had a page with words on it, that might have worked. LOL!
The real problem is that those UNG publicists apparently suffer from a lack of imagination and resourcefulness: all they had to do is maintain that the winning student was transgender.
White guys cannot win unless they are Mormons.
The left is pathetic. Seeing everything thru the lenses of race.
