It now seems likely that Ferguson will endure as a synonym for injustice lingering racial injustice that is real and tragic enough in America today.
But the bitter (and apparently forbidden) truth is that Fergusons unique and special infamy in this regard actually results from another injustice a cruel slander perpetrated against former Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson, and by extension against the Missouri town and police department that put him on the streets.
Whats worse, to judge from events earlier this month and with tensions rising anew after last weeks shooting of two cops that slander may never be frankly retracted.
Wilson, a white patrolman, was accused last August of just about the most heinous crime imaginable. He had allegedly executed an unarmed black teenager in cold blood and broad daylight as the unoffending young man tried to surrender, his hands in the air.
The horrifying accusation was spread around the world by saturation media coverage, which only intensified as nationwide protests ensued and hands up, dont shoot became a new battle cry against police brutality and racial inequity everywhere.
Trouble is, we now know with as much clarity as is possible in such matters that the accusations against Wilson were false or utterly unsubstantiated in every important detail.
Federal prosecutors at the Obama administrations Department of Justice (DOJ) issued a detailed 86-page report this month declining to prosecute Wilson. In just one of many unambiguous statements, the prosecutors wrote:
There is no credible evidence to refute Wilsons stated subjective belief that he was acting in self-defense.
Wilsons account is corroborated by physical evidence and his perception of a threat posed by Brown is corroborated by other credible eyewitness accounts.(continued)

A week or so ago there was a article on a site that showed where the witnesses where at the time of the shooting with red arrows. I wish I had saved that link.
Maybe someone reading this has a link to it.
Truth must never be allowed to hinder the agenda.
I am surprised the Star-Tribune even printed this article.
Sounds like

found it, thank you!!!
Your honor, where do I go to get my reputation back?
And what about Darren Wilson. Will he ever be able to get another job in law enforcement...highly unlikely. And if at all possible, he would have to relocate far away. In fact, it will be a long while before he can be even comfortable being in public from justifiable fear of being killed by these “justice” seekers.
Wilson should either find another line of work or go to school and study to become something other than a uniformed beat cop. Maybe a detective or other specialized area of police work.
At least the author of the piece you posted acknowledged that the first meme to come out of Ferguson was a lie. Too bad he didn't take the next step and realize that all of the assumptions about Ferguson are also lies. Ferguson is not now and has not been for decades a racist city. People of all races have lived together here quite nicely until a stoned, angry, out-of-control bully assaulted a police officer and paid for his actions with his life. Then the lying began.
His friend, Dorian Johnson, lied to the gullible media to create the "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" prevarication. Then portions of my city burned for the first time. The media and professional agitators then accused the police of the shocking sin of wearing riot gear to a riot. In retrospect, the only fair criticism of the PC-restrained police is that their response was not effective enough.
Then came the lie that if we just opened a dialogue everything will work out fine. It was not well reported, but reasonable and well-meaning people discovered that it's not possible to have a civil dialogue with people who are screaming at you and have no interest in hearing your side of the issue. The result of this months-long effort at peaceful dialogue was the November riot.
The people and businesses believed the assurances given by our Governor, "Epic Fail" Nixon, that we would be protected from the violent mob. We believed the assurances given by the peaceful protesters that they would be able to keep their more violent brothers under control. We were lied to and portions of our city burned again.
Then came winter, and only Russians are crazy enough to riot in the snow. The citizens of Ferguson suspected that the warm weather would bring trouble while we were being accused of being the most racist and despicable city in the country. It burned my heart all winter long to hear these lies while I continued to maintain my great relationships with my black, Asian and Hispanic neighbors and frequent their businesses.
At least this article acknowledged that there was a report completely exonerating Officer Wilson and reinforcing that the meme used as the catalyst for this tragedy was untrue. Funny how no-one makes the connection that if there's one lie, there might be others. Using statistics to create distortions and lies, the DOJ recreated the atmosphere of tension that provided for the return of the outside agitators who played such a pivotal role in encouraging the useful idiots to riot once again.
Then the police got shot. At this point in time, no-one truly knows what happened, but the speculations reveal the pitiful level of critical thinking skills that exists in many portions of the American public. Honesty and truth are the only things that will solve this situation, honesty and truth are the thing that will restore the wonderful city of Ferguson to a healthy condition, honesty and truth are things that the Star-Tribune commentator might discover one day if he tries real hard, but as of this article he is not yet there.
I’m surprised, too.
Good to get the perspective of someone who lives there.
And the MSM, print and electronic, are wondering why their numbers are tanking?
I seriously doubt that anyone \who took time out to actually read the source documents that were readily available by the end of march had any doubt as to what happened. The grand Jury and later the DOJ both clearly confirmed that most of the media reports as to what preceded the final fatal encounter were, at best, false.
The DOJ’s analysis of numbers in Jefferson, MO remind me of: “Yes, but...” arguments that liberals always come up with they are clearly caught in lies.
My only question is, and unfortunately remains, how bad will this summer and next summer be when it comes to violent outbreaks of crimes based on these latest examples of race baiting.
