Senators Unveil Bill To Legalize Federal Medical Marijuana
The Daily Caller ^ | March 10, 2015 | Jonah Bennett

Republican Sen. Rand Paul joined Democratic Sens. Cory Booker and Kirsten Gillibrand Tuesday to propose legislation to legalize medical marijuana on the federal level.

The bill, termed the Compassionate Access, Research Expansion and Respect States Act, would move marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule II, allow access for veterans and put a final stop to federal raids on dispensaries, among other things.

This is the first time a medical marijuana bill has been introduced in the Senate, whereas the House has seen 15 pieces of legislation on marijuana reform in the last session of Congress, according to Marijuana.com.

The move from Schedule I to Schedule II would mean federal regulatory recognition that marijuana has medicinal value, but also high abuse potential.

“This is an absolutely ground-breaking moment,” Leslie Bocskor, managing partner of Electrum Partners, told The Daily Caller News Foundation. “Whether it passes or not, the fact that it exists is an important step. In proposing to reschedule marijuana, the senators are also acknowledging the pre-existence of the marijuana manufacturing industry by including a provision on financial services and enforcement.”

Colorado, 2014:
Violent crime rates are down 2.2 percent over 2013...
Traffic fatalities are down 3 percent over 2013...
In Denver, burglaries are down 9.4 percent, and "overall property crime" is down 8.9 percent over 2013.
$700 million in sales, $47 million in tax revenues, $8 million allocated to drug prevention programs, millions saved in marijuana cases dropping by 90 percent (there are some limitations that are still enformced, but only 1400 cases in 2014, compared to 9100 in 2013).

What other lies do you have?

Ah, yes, your "vast majority" lie...

"State Patrol tells us troopers handed out more than 5500 citations for driving either while drunk or high. Of those citations, 354 were related specifically to marijuana."

You clearly must be a liberal, because you use little other than emotions and lies to support your inane views.

I don’t want POTHEADS anywhere near the steering wheel of a car! But most of the time, they’re too paranoid to even go out their door ... perhaps only to go out to get their disability money ... LOL ...

It won’t be a problem. Every view you have of pot and pot users is an absurdity. No offense intended, it’s just the truth.

Then the POTHEADS I’ve directly seen for 50+ years have been ABSURDITIES ... which I guess I would agree with ... LOL ...

Yeah, maybe but I don’t see portugal as a model of self control. I think Colorado is just novelty and tourists. I think the attraction will fade

I don’t encourage anyone to use it and never have. Not even when I was a teenager. You will find no post in my 15 years here suggesting that anyone should use pot, alcohol or any drugs. And in 15 years I’ve never been asked my opinion on that.

We have another Republican senator on board! =>

Nevada Senator Dean Heller announced today he is cosponsoring a bill to let states like Nevada determine their own medical marijuana laws.

Its called Compassionate Access Research Expansion and Respect States... or CARERS Act.

Of course not. Pot is the one topic that some (so-called) conservatives accept straw man arguments, ad-hominem attacks, ludicrous propaganda, lies, distortions, evasions and the intentional ignorance of facts as legitimate discourse.

No, that analogy doesn't hold at all. I made no statement about my opinion or personal views so an analogy based on opinion and personal views is a false syllogism. I neglected to mention those in post #58.

That might be true if I were listening to others in articles and accepting gossip ... except that’s not the case. I’m going by the POTHEADS I’ve seen directly and over a period of years.

There’s not anything anyone can do to discredit my own eyeballs. These POTHEADS are the scourge of a viable and vibrant society!
