JERSEY CITY -- City Councilwoman-at-large Joyce Watterman was caught this week using her City Hall office and taxpayer-funded aide to solicit donations to her political committee.
Watterman, a Democrat who was first elected to the council in 2013, sent out invitations to a $100-a-head "birthday fundraiser" scheduled for tonight at Liberty House and included the phone number to her City Hall office on the invite.

In all fairness, Jersey City (and the rest of Hudson County NJ) has no shortage of lighter-hued scammers in office. The white mayor himself has had some ethical issues raised; I don’t believe they are resolved yet. Jersey City isn’t another Newark; it has a lot more promise (and jobs, and taxpayers, etc.); it has benefited greatly from the train wreck called NYC right across the Hudson River.
