At this years CPAC, Mark Levin delivered a powerful retort to those who repeat we are a nation of immigrants in pursuit of an open borders agenda. He countered, we are not a nation of immigrants, we are a nation of citizens.
Indeed, American citizenship is the bedrock of our Republic the privilege of sharing in the decision making and destiny of the greatest nation on earth. In America, anyone can potentially become a citizen by undergoing the process and successfully obtaining approval or by being born to legal American residents. But nothing undermines the fabric of America and attenuates the value of our citizenship more than the practice of birth tourism, a trend most recently seen played out in so-called maternity hotels located in Southern California, hosting pregnant Chinese women coming to the U.S. for the sole purpose of having their baby in America to secure automatic citizenship and all the benefits that come along with it.
This week, Sen. David Vitter (R-LA) plans to submit an amendment to pending legislation (S. 178, Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act) that would end the abuse of unqualified birthright citizenship. The top two Senate leaders, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and Majority Whip John Cornyn (R-TX) are blocking Vitter from receiving an up-or-down vote on the amendment.

The author is correct in that it is an abuse; however, referring to a "loophole" suggests the issue is a baked-in, structural defect.
It is not, it is just a simple perverted interpretation of the the 14thA by an agenda-driven body of liberal bureaucrats.

In 2013, a total of 990,553 persons became Legal Permanent Residents of the United States. The majority of these new Legal Permanent Residents (54 percent) already lived in the United States when they were granted Lawful Permanent Residence. Sixty-six percent of new Legal Permanent Reidents were granted permanent resident status based on a family relationship with a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of the United States. The leading countries of birth of new Legal Permanent Residents were Mexico (14 percent), China (7.2 percent), and India (6.9 percent).
In 2013, 69,909 persons were granted refugee status in the US and 25,199 persons were granted asylum.
Legal immigration adds as many people as a city the size of Philadelphia to the US population every year.
