Eric Burns and the Cult of Liberal Media
The American Spectator ^ | March 10, 2015 | Jeffery Lord

Posted on 03/10/2015 2:00:13 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

".....It is the telltale sign of what the late Mr. Buckley once called the liberal “mania.” Said Buckley: “Cross a liberal on duty, and he becomes a man of hurtling irrationality.” A point perfectly illustrated by this latest from Eric Burns.

How in the world does it make sense that Bill O’Reilly—quite visibly and openly not a “right-winger” — gets to be the head of a cult of right-wingers?... how in the world does Fox News get to be a cult — but not liberalism and the liberal media that marinates in said liberalism?

One of the striking factors of modern American society is the — if you will—“takeover” of various institutions by liberals and liberalism. Government in the Obama era for sure. But beyond that? Academia in many cases is no longer about academics but rather about instilling liberalism in all areas of the academy. Manufacturing so many little liberals. So too has Mainline Protestantism fallen prey to this, choosing liberalism over theology and sending many of its congregants fleeing the pews. The law and law enforcement is frequently no longer about just the law much less “just the facts,” but rather about liberalism first, last, and always. And of course, as Mr. Burns has illustrated, liberalism is a religion in many quarters of the American media. It sank Newsweek (now trodding a comeback trail) as readers fled its insistent left-wingism while editors kept shoveling it into issue after issue, dropping circulation be damned. Time is on the ropes, afflicted with the same disease. MSNBC is busy firing, and there is a lawsuit out there accusing Comcast of having to buy Al Sharpton and give him a show just to guarantee racial, legal, and decidedly leftist peace.

In other words? If in fact “cult” is the right word, that cult is liberalism.....

Has there ever been a country that’s gone hard left and recovered from it without economic ruin and blood shed?

I suspect not.

From what I’ve witnessed, once trending hard left, more leftism is applied to fix the consequences of the previous leftism. A death spiral follows unit the country is ruined economically. It takes years, but the downward trajectory continues until there is nowhere further down to go.

I’d love to hear some examples that haven’t gone that way.

The conceit many lib "journalists" and elites harbor is that if not for evil pied pipers of conservatism (like that conservative reactionary Bill O'Reilly), the many millions of people who now vote for or listen to conservative pols like Scott Walker or talking heads like Rush Limbaugh, would be sing hosannas to Comrade Obama and championing all sorts of wonderful leftist schemes.

The lib meatheads simply can't get it through their very thick skulls that conservatives, by definition, don't like liberalism. It doesn't matter if there's a tv network for us or a radio talk show host, we will not vote for or champion liberal idiocies.

Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals

1. “Power is not only what you have, but what the enemy thinks you have.” Power is derived from 2 main sources – money and people. “Have-Nots” must build power from flesh and blood.

2. “Never go outside the expertise of your people.” It results in confusion, fear and retreat. Feeling secure adds to the backbone of anyone.

3. “Whenever possible, go outside the expertise of the enemy.” Look for ways to increase insecurity, anxiety and uncertainty.

4. “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” If the rule is that every letter gets a reply, send 30,000 letters. You can kill them with this because no one can possibly obey all of their own rules.

5. “Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon.” There is no defense. It’s irrational. It’s infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions.

6. “A good tactic is one your people enjoy.” They’ll keep doing it without urging and come back to do more. They’re doing their thing, and will even suggest better ones.

7. “A tactic that drags on too long becomes a drag.” Don’t become old news.

8. “Keep the pressure on. Never let up.” Keep trying new things to keep the opposition off balance. As the opposition masters one approach, hit them from the flank with something new.

9. “The threat is usually more terrifying than the thing itself.” Imagination and ego can dream up many more consequences than any activist.

10. “If you push a negative hard enough, it will push through and become a positive.” Violence from the other side can win the public to your side because the public sympathizes with the underdog.

11. “The price of a successful attack is a constructive alternative.” Never let the enemy score points because you’re caught without a solution to the problem.

12. “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” Cut off the support network and isolate the target from sympathy. Go after people and not institutions; people hurt faster than institutions

And nowhere in Alinsky’s rules, is the goal for truth, justice or the betterment of people. Only destruction of one’s enemies whether they are right or wrong...

...”Has there ever been a country that’s gone hard left and recovered from it without economic ruin and blood shed”...

I cannot answer that. However, I suspect that once the Godless and corrupt get rid of their opposition with the help of the ignorant masses, then the iron fist will rule through the death penalty for any small indication that all are not enthusiastic about the constant state of poverty and slavery that they find themselves in. That lasts until the oppressed decide that it is better to be dead than to live in abject misery and they revolt. The Hard left is in charge in America today because it is willing to tell incredible lies through media figures just like Mr. Burns, knowing that the masses are too ignorant to know what is truth. You only have to watch Mr. O’Reilly for one week to know that Burnes is lying. The left cannot tolerate even one person to be out there telling the truth because a House of Cards is in constant danger from that.

Thank you for this post. Anyone who cares about what is coming down in this country will get a copy of RULES FOR RADICALS to inform themselves about the techniques used by the American left to bring tyranny to this nation. It is very plain and recognizable and conservatives would be smart to be able to identify an Alinskyite when they see one.

It is very plain and recognizable and conservatives would be smart to be able to identify an Alinskyite when they see one.

Hillary's college thesis "There is Only the Fight" - An Analysis of the Alinsky Model: Hillary Clinton has a written life plan, but there have been only two copies available to the public—until now. Written in 1969, and kept under lock and key during her years as First Lady, Hillary’s Wellesley College senior thesis has only been readable in person at the campus library and in a single microfilm copy made available to individual researchers on inter-library loan. Clinton lawyers have previously blocked people who sought to make it public. A read of the 92-page thesis, titled “There is only the Fight, An Analysis of the Alinsky model” makes it clear why the Clintons wanted this document suppressed. Hillary doesn’t just want to pass laws or implement policy. Hillary explains: “If the ideals Alinsky espouses were actualized, the result would be social revolution.” Somehow, recent articles on the thesis by the Washington Post, Boston Globe and MSNBC all missed this little detail.

Read Hillary’s thesis here [this link works]

In her alleged autobiography, Living History, Hillary explains the importance her thesis: “My senior year at Wellesley would further test and articulate my beliefs. For my thesis I analyzed the work of a Chicago native and community organizer named Saul Alinsky…I agreed with some of Alinsky’s ideas…but we had a fundamental disagreement. (Alinsky) believed you could change the system only from the outside. I didn’t.…my decision (to go to law school instead of training as an Alinsky organizer) was an expression of my belief that the system could be changed from within.” This is critical to understanding Hillary’s life plan. Also notable are the many things about Alinsky which did not cause Hillary to have “fundamental disagreement.”

Saul Alinsky (1909-1972) was one of the nation’s foremost community organizers, publishing several books and creating organizations which continue today. He gave a wide ranging Playboy Magazine interview shortly before his death. In it he gives a detailed description of his 1930s life as a communist fellow-traveler.".....

The article has a link to another article that mentions that other former fox liberal scumbag Neal Gabler. I remember seeing that slimeball and thinking why is this douchebag getting airtime?

Pelosi and Reid had this down pat.

The only thing keeping Americans from being murdered by the left is the second amendment. And with a registry, they will know whom to take he guns from.

So true about National Geographic. As their current “War on Science” issue demonstrates by lumping scientifically-based skepticism of AGW with the moon-landing hoaxers.

I’m never buying another copy. Ever.

Yes, I read the article too lumping us in with the flat earthers too. Somebody bought me a gift subscription around Christmas time and ever issue, almost every article, global warming and climate change are either mentioned or are prominent features.

N.G.,a once very good magazine has turned into garbage.
