Addressing the nation from Selma, Ala., on Saturday, President Obama said that while racism may be no longer endemic, as it was 50 years ago, his Justice Departments report on Ferguson shows that the nations racial history still casts its long shadow upon us. Sorry: The Justice report doesnt prove disparate treatment, let alone discrimination.
In fact, it looks more like something ginned up to distract from the embarrassing fact that Justice (in another report released the same day) wound up fully validating the findings of the Ferguson grand jury. Racism is serious, and those engaging in it should be shamed but we should have real evidence before accusing others of it. And every one of the Justice reports main claims of evidence of discrimination falls short.
Starting with the primary numerical claim. The report notes on page 4: Fergusons law-enforcement practices overwhelmingly impact African-Americans. Data collected by the Ferguson Police Department from 2012 to 2014 shows that African-Americans account for 85 percent of vehicle stops, 90 percent of citations, and 93 percent of arrests made by FPD officers, despite comprising only 67 percent of Fergusons population.
Those statistics dont prove racism, because blacks dont commit traffic offenses at the same rate as other population groups. The Bureau of Justice Statistics 2011 Police-Public Contact Survey indicate that, nationwide, blacks were 31 percent more likely than whites to be pulled over for a traffic stop. . . .

A “report” straight out of the Handbook For Race Pimps.
Was it ever a criminal act to produce lying reports such as this, at any time? Seems to fall under the definition of “perjury” at least to me, since it involves oathbreaking.
From the guy who has done all he can to create racial animosity among all ethnicities.
Just look at how they took lemons and made lemonade from this Ferguson thing.
Not even the hyper-politicized DOJ could find that the cop did anything wrong but the media and race pimps went straight on ahead with their typical mau-mauing and never missed a beat.
Good pick up thanks for the Post posting. If they keep this stuff up The NY Post will be “The publication of record” putting the NYT in the garbage barrel where it belongs.
Not to mention the pervasive sexism of every police force in the country, arresting males at higher rates than females for almost every possible crime.

These Chicago folks (Violent Crime Central of the United States) have somehow got Ferguson on the brain.
They need to look closer to home.
Laws on the books require that white on black crime be reported... but NOT black on white crime.
That needs to be changed to get a more accurate picture of what’s going on in the country.
I didn’t know that.
Lott didn’t even get into the age difference among the races in Ferguson. I read a comment from a long-time resident about this. He pointed out that the town used to be white majority, by a big margin, but that over the last couple of decades, it’s become black-majority. Younger whites moved out and were replaced by younger blacks, leaving mostly older whites there. Some elementary schools there are essentially all-black schools. Even the DOJ knows that most crimes are committed by yutes, not old people, so when you factor the ages of the races, 87% might even be a little low.
Saw a segment with Larry Elder on Fox this morning. Larry is a black conservative as most Freepers probably already know. The point was made that the discrepancy between black percentage of the population and blacks being ticketed for traffic violations is even worse in New York City than in Ferguson, but no one is marching on New York.
