Hillary Clinton's only hope: She’ll need a real primary challenge — preferably from Elizabeth Warren
New York Daily News ^ | 03/09/2015 | BY GAIL SHEEHY

On the day after Hillary Clinton went on “60 Minutes” to hide the lies of her husband — 21 years ago — I rode knee-to-knee with her in a small plane and listened to her rehearse her war strategy: “Pound the Republican attack machine and blame the press.”

The events of the past week have confirmed a nagging fear: Those of us who’d hoped the controlling, deceptive, defensive Clinton of years past had grown into a more mature kind of leader are wrong.

She has reacted to a series of legitimate press reports raising serious questions about her use of a private email server to conduct the public’s business while secretary of state by going into bunker stance and attacking the messengers. We have seen this face on Hillary too often before, and it is deeply unappealing.

If Clinton wants to rebuild trust with voters and win the White House, she needs to sideline her arrogant instincts. She must show humility. It’s time she speaks candidly about her mistakes and what she has learned from them.

None of this is going to happen unless someone makes it happen.

That someone won’t be her husband or a reporter. It can only be a credible Democratic challenger for the presidency who can create clear contrasts and finally explode the myth that attacking Hillary is always an act of partisan warfare.

The obvious challenger, the one with a real opportunity to sharpen Hillary’s candidacy if not derail it entirely, is Elizabeth Warren.

What we learned this week, via the New York Times and Associated Press, is that Clinton deliberately set up a private email system to use for all of public business she conducted as the nation’s chief foreign policy officer. She did so despite explicit rules prohibiting that behavior.

Interesting that after revealing from first hand knowledge that Hillary is a ruthless power-hungry bitch, the author instead offers advice to help her win the nomination. “Just win, baby”

Warren is all of the things you say. But she is the only potential candidate with all the correct answers to the leftist litmus tests, and who does not have the baggage.

Just like 0bama was in 2008. Warren will be what the media make her to be, and it will all be favorable.

hillary is the choice of the global elite. Jeb is their fallback position; no different from having Hillary as President for our masters.

If the dems have to dump hillary, I can't imagine how Jeb could win. Someone new would be so much better than another walk through the Bushes.

I believe you are correct. The journ-0-lists write the script. In 2008 we had a guy from Kenya with a Muslim education and two decades of training from the most corrupt political mob in the country

So the media investigated Joe the Plumber's trade license and the DNA of Palin's Down Syndrome child.

I shot you a private email reply and it would not “send”. It holds me to 100 charactors! Never experienced that before.

Will try again. :)

Warren is the next President unless we a) take her seriously, and b) do not do her the enormous favor of nominating someone whose spouse works for Goldman Sachs.

This is weird! It will not send private email even under 100 charactors. I wonder where that limit came from? On private FR mail?

To answer your question— I was addicted to FR but got an assist when I lost my tablet in September on a plane to Dallas. Insure your hair traveling on Southwest!

Very good to see you. :) Rita

Well that is so true. But there may be a heavier weight somewhere in the wings willing to step out if Hillary actually would dare to get out.

Lizzy can’t match any of the resumes of solid and broader achievement and accomplishment of most ALL of our guys.

From college campus to the Leader of the Free World, I think, is very unlikely when she just won her first elected office, sending her to the senate. Even Bark had an operation that sent him through a prior state election win and he garnered 4 years of groomed service in the senate.

She is probably no Barack Obama, given the condition of the country on every front from an inexperienced political hack.

“She has reacted to a series of legitimate press reports raising serious questions ...”

I would bet that over the years there were many legitimate press reports in the NY Times, which appeared once and then never again, which if followed up upon would have sunk Clinton years ago. Funny that now everyone is acting like...well, like suddenly these current reports are ‘legitimate’.

The problems with the democrats is the malignant narcissist didn’t surround himself with any capable people. He’s leaving them a thin bench. So other than Warren, who do they have?

Let’s rule out people who are too old, crazy, goofy, tagged as losers, disgraced ex-cabinet members, or some combo platter of the above. That includes: Gore, Biden, Pelosi, Reid, Washer-woman Schultz and Kerry.

Who meets the liberal litmus tests and isn’t in the above group? I come up with: Warren, Al Franken, Rahm Emanuel, Villegosa, Mini-Me Cuomo...and really that’s pretty much it. For anyone else they will have to go really deep into the weeds.

Warren gives them the historic “1st woman president.” None of the others scare me because they won’t inspire the media to love them with Stalinist paeans of praise. Like they did with 0bama, and would with Warren.

Just for yuks & giggles, go to youtube & find the Elizabeth Warren campaign rally complete with folksinger voiceover.

A room full of geeks that make the Star Wars bar scene look like a Supreme Court session.

YOU just made a FABULOUS point, I believe, about Obama leaving them a thin bench! He transferred no clout to anyone whatsoever, due strictly to what you said— his clinically outsized narcissism!

Not even to Pelosi or Reid who, deplorable as they are, went all “isis” on anything and anyone who got in the way of Obama’s Marxist/socialist agenda. They have received no visible reward from the ONE for their mortal combat role.

This explains why Lefties reach for the desperate and preposterous idea and point to only Michelle Obama as having the degree of female clout that could possibly match Hillary.

Warren does not have that mystique, certainly. The question is, did Obama level the land on purpose, or truly clutch power out of his genetic predisposition to admire and promote only himself? This is more how he roles.

I think he did what all good (or bad) dictators do. He deliberately eliminated anyone with talent and ability who could pose a threat.

Kind of like how Stalin rolled.

If Sheehy was honest here (and I'm laughing at anyone who believes that), then she'd have named the one who has been doing just that for awhile now - the destroyer of HP, Carly Fiorina. Who should, like all Rats who have had any power, be in jail for corruption, sabotage and everything else they could stuff into their rotten little tiny stinking potentates. Nevertheless, she's been stabbing details at Hillary now for awhile, and here's some evidence of her concern to Hillary:

(P.S. Fiorina's book came out years before Hillary's)

“Who else do they have?”

Caught ten minutes of Maria Bartiromo on a Fox Sunday show and thought it was somewhat strange that Fox was reaching out to this person for comments on all today's issues: George Mitchell. Maria seemed close to donning some Gucci knee-pads.
