A professor at Granite State College and chair of the history department at the Derryfield School in Manchester, New Hampshire admitted to writing the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts in order to end white privilege. According to the response heard on the video, Dr. David Pook shocked the audience at an event at New Hampshire Institute of Politics when he made the following statement:
The reason why I helped write the standards and the reason why I am here today is that as a white male in society I am given a lot of privilege that I didn’t earn[.]
Dr. Pook went on to say all kids deserve an “equal opportunity to learn how to read” and the same advantages he had. However, according to Campus Reform, the Derryfield School where Pook works considers the CCSS inferior and does not use the Common Core State Standards, not to mention that the school has a student body that is 91 percent white. In addition, Campus Reform notes that the “Standards” have been especially hard on black and Hispanic students, who have seen their test scores plummet since the introduction of Common Core.
According to Dr. Pook, not all children have equal opportunity to learn to read. He never stated what advantages he, as a white male, had over other students. What specifically is prohibiting children from having equal opportunities to learn? What has changed over the past 50 years? Perhaps the real problem with public education is caused by liberalism.

It is beginning to look like Communist at its Core.
Re: Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery. - Winston Churchill
Great quote
Racists are the blindest of them all.
They’ll argue you aren’t aware of the opportunities that weren’t closed off to you because you’re a white male. Racism is built into the system and you don’t see the bias. If you were black you wouldn’t have had opportunities presented to you in the first place regardless of how hard you’re willing to work.
This position is, ironically, inherently racist in itself. It makes assumptions about you because you’re a white male. You might have grown up in an abusive family with no focus on education, hard work or a moral code, yet to them, you still had “privilege”. It is nothing but racial hatred, another excuse for why blacks have failing communities and that you’re responsible - all because you’re white.
What really annoys me is that the moral, intelligent, hard working black people don’t agree either and it just causes racial friction between them and white people too. This argument helps nobody.

Aw...cum’on..U no der ain’t no such animal nomor !They all gawn 2 unicorn hevin.....LOL....
It would do wonders if minority-majority schools cracked down hard on any cases where the trash attacked kids who “acted white”, AKA decided to get good grades and outperform the low average.
Having been tutoring my 11 year old niece I can tell you that without help from college educated relatives, most underprivileged kids are doomed. At least with the old learning by memorization every kid had a chance.
I think the educrats shot themselves in the foot.
Funny- I can nonly find his quote on right leaning, or conservative, or TEA party sites. Nothing on huffpo, NYT, LAT....
So part of his privilege as a White Liberal is to get cover from the American public, many of which won’t hear this about Common Core.
Don't believe it? Then tell me just how many protests there were over the police shooting of Miriam Carey, an unarmed black mother. She was dropped into a media memory hole less than 48 hours after she was gunned down. Does anybody even know who she is?
The sad reality is that no government program will fix poor familiar structure. I have 3 kids. My wife and I probably read to each boy 10,000 books before they even entered pre-school. Maybe it’s the same Dr Suess book 5 or 6 times in one day. Still counts.
Many poor white and minority kids just don’t get the attention they need from age 0 to 4. They don’t have an engaged parent willing or able to read to them for 30 to 60 minutes a day. Consequently, they’re screwed. No amount of time plopping the kid in front of Sesame Street or in the care of disinterested day care workers will make up for dedicated parents.
It is truly sad, and I feel badly for those neglected kids. Are nation is now and will continue to suffer the consequence.
Ain't no "perhaps" about it.
“Are nation”. Should be “Our nation”. Need more coffee.
More like Dr. Pukey.
Dr. Pook takes it up the chute. I’m just saying.
And Asians would not be making more money on average than whites despite scoring higher on tests, not be going further in school, and not be committing less crimes than whites. The whole "white privilege" argument is a gigantic scam.
We are like the Ivory-billed Woodpecker: possibly extinct, but with an occasional unconfirmed siting.
I was raised in rural Wisconsin. I attended a ONE ROOM school, with ONE teacher who had 2 years of college -—8 grades-—14 students. There was NO running water ( water brought in every school day in a 10 gallon milk can) & with outdoor toilets behind the school Playground==a merry-go-round.
I would bet today that at least 50% of those students attended college for at least SOME classes & that at least 25% of those students got a 4 year college education.
I want a serious Republican CONSERVATIVE candidate—such as Scott Walker— to do the following at his campaign stops:
Set up 2 school desks on the stage-—and set up a table with the following:
2 sets of textbooks
2 sets of pencil boxes
2 boxes of Ticonderoga pencils
2 boxes of pens
2 3 ring notebooks
2 spiral notebooks
2 stacks of scratch paper
2 erasers
2 bottles of Liquid Paper
2 sets of anything else which is part of getting an education.
THEN___Ask any audience member to come to the stage & tell the rest of the audience which items on the stage & table were manufactured/prepared for the BLACK student & which were done for the WHITE student.
My brother was involved in the preparation of textbooks. My father also was involved in preparation for printing of textbooks.
I am ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that they never did 2 sets of anything that ere different.
This country gives a free education to every student thru 12 the grade. The EQUAL OPPORTUNITY is there. The student -regardless of color- has the same information in their book as the student next to them or in the next room.
The constant drumbeat that black students keep alive that is connected to the idea that IF they get an education they will be considered “Uncle Tom’ or worse isn’t helping the blacks rise to a better life in the USA.
The USA has spent 40+++ years & trillions of dollars trying to help the blacks.
They are inflicting this upon themselves.
I didn’t have any different school supplies than any other student—even when I went to college & took accounting classes. I did my class time & I did my homework. All of that led me to get better jobs & to eventually become self employed in about 1980.
My sympathy is exhausted. None more coming forth. The attitudes have to change within the black communities.
Compound the above with the statement of the ‘mother’ of the black kid killed in Madison——”He was NEVER a violent boy”.
What does she think an armed robbery is???
The standards of behavior in the black community are certainly different by a long shot than the standards of behavior in the white community.
I know that armed robbery activity by it’s very definition is violent!!! She is disgusting.
Its counterpart is black privilege, which is concrete and provable (even codified, in many cases). "Affirmative action," OJ Simpson, Al Sharpton's tax evasion, Charlie Rangel's financial shenanigans, Eric Holder's double standards, and Barack Obama's transparent incompetence are demonstrable examples of black privilege, as is the whole "white privilege" movement.
Not necessarily. I expect the testing results to be abysmal using CC. However, the educrats and the textbook and testing companies will take it as evidence that more money must be spent. The bad news is actually good news, if spun in an effective manner and if conservative don't raise holy hell.
