A professor at Granite State College and chair of the history department at the Derryfield School in Manchester, New Hampshire admitted to writing the Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts in order to end white privilege. According to the response heard on the video, Dr. David Pook shocked the audience at an event at New Hampshire Institute of Politics when he made the following statement:
The reason why I helped write the standards and the reason why I am here today is that as a white male in society I am given a lot of privilege that I didn’t earn[.]
Dr. Pook went on to say all kids deserve an “equal opportunity to learn how to read” and the same advantages he had. However, according to Campus Reform, the Derryfield School where Pook works considers the CCSS inferior and does not use the Common Core State Standards, not to mention that the school has a student body that is 91 percent white. In addition, Campus Reform notes that the “Standards” have been especially hard on black and Hispanic students, who have seen their test scores plummet since the introduction of Common Core.
According to Dr. Pook, not all children have equal opportunity to learn to read. He never stated what advantages he, as a white male, had over other students. What specifically is prohibiting children from having equal opportunities to learn? What has changed over the past 50 years? Perhaps the real problem with public education is caused by liberalism.

What exactly is that privilege? Stupid me, but as a white male I expect my place in society to be a result of my intelligence, knowledge and character. No one has ever handed me anything because I was white.
Standard method - 1+ 1 = 2
Common Core Method - 1/1 + 1 - 1 + 1 = 2
Yes, and he has confused the privileges granted to members of the liberal elite by their fellow travelers with a privilege granted as a result of race. The leftists in academia ascribe their many privileges to race and sex but they are really due to the actions of their fellow leftists.
Does anyone really believe that the poor, white, conservative truck driver from West Virginia gets the kind of treatment the professor gets?
Wrong solution to the wrong problem by the wrong people.
Needs to be thrown in Leftists’ faces each and every time - “Common Core is RAAAAACIST!”
The privilege shared among those on the left. The professor gets and probably gives a lot of benefits based on politics.
Ascribing the preferences he gets to race and sex is just another liberal lie. In reality he benefits from his politically correct viewpoint and how he plays along with the rest of the liberals controlling academia.
It began to fall long before our generation.
I’m wishing I had black prilege about now. Free food, housing, healthcare, education, etc...Race card, no taxes, free legal representation by Al Sharpton, Inc and co-horts, automatic sympathy if you commit a crime, license to commit a crime, looting squad avaible 24 /7 a day if you are charged with a crime or punished by tha man, etc...
1+1=2 if you are a straight white male. Otherwise, it equals whatever you want as long as you explain how the answer makes you feel.
This nation is completely lost.
I just LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE my “white privilge”!!!!!! I get to work 6-7 days a week to see a hefty sum of my earnings stolen to support scumbags that “my racism” has kep dawn an sheeit!!!!
You should loooooove it toooo!!!!! Work harder comrade!!!!
Millions on Section 8, TANF, HEAP,SNAP and EBT depend on YOU!!!!!!
Funny how liberals are always screaming “Keep your laws off my body” and how they detest people of faith “pushing their religion on others”, but by gosh they have no compunction about jamming their dogmatic garbage down everyone else’s throat. And notice how Liberal ALWAYS use the full weight and force of the government to jam their agenda down on everyone.
Essentially, what he is saying is Black people cannot meet the standard; can you think of anything MORE racist?
Pook makes me want to.
We raised seven children. All of them could read by age 4. By age 12 they were reading college level books.
None ever attended a public school. My wife is a high school graduate with only a few hours of college work. She taught all of our children to read, write, pass advanced grammar exams. Our eldest son is a degreed and trained linguist. Our eldest daughter is a published poet.
When I hear people talk about "rights" to be educated in any manner, I have no sympathy whatsoever. Our country has good libraries just about anywhere. There are people who love to teach others how to read well.
Really, there is no excuse for not educating one's self in this country.
Not going to give too many details, but I overheard that in a certain nearby county, young black males will always get a plea bargain for crimes, no matter how heinous, because the jury pool will nullify any attempt to hold them accountable.
Call it by it’s proper name...Commie Core.
Whatever happened to ebonics?
Common Core should be renamed Least Common Core Denominator.
Homeschooling yet?
It is not for every family, but you would be surprised at how far most parents can successfully educate their child before it might be better to seek outside help.
But today, that outside help still can be a source that allows the child to learn at home. For example:
