Trey Gowdy sees months-long gaps in Clinton emails

The top House Republican Benghazi investigator says the emails Hillary Clinton has handed over for review have “huge gaps” that challenge her credibility over what happened in the 2012 attacks in Libya.

“There are gaps of months and months and months,” Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said on Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

In the batch of emails handed over to the House Select Committee on Benghazi, Gowdy said there’s no record of any communication on the day that Clinton was famously photographed wearing sunglasses and typing on her Blackberry.

“We have no emails from that trip,” he said. “It strains credibility to believe that if you’re on your way to…to discuss Libyan policy that there’s not a single document that’s been turned over to Congress.”

Gowdy said his committee won’t be releasing information on any of the emails it has received so far because they don’t present the full picture of what happened during Benghazi attacks that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans. Clinton is welcome to release all of the emails she archived while serving as secretary of State, he said, but she doesn’t get to decide what’s in the public record and what isn’t.

“Frankly. I’ve lost confidence in the State Department to make that determination,” Gowdy said. “They’re the ones who allowed this arrangement. They’re the ones who did nothing about this arrangement until they got a request from our committee.”

Gowdy knew about this for 6 months and only issued a grandstanding
email supeona when the scandal broke?
And to this day, Gowdy has not issued a supeona for the “physical server”,
even after it has been proven that Hillary lied to Issa’s Committee?

“Reason” would have been for Gowdy to issue a subpoena for her emails
and her server 6 months ago, especially since we now know Hillary lied
to Issa’s Committee.
We get so little, because a lot of Freepers here demand so little.

Gowdy could have blabbed his cards and prematurely caused the commencement of the battle way too soon, giving Hillary an way too early clean up.

Cool your jets and let him finish rattling some cages without interference. He is OBVIOUSLY timing this until he sees the white of their eyes before firing!

How did the New York Times hear about it?
We don’t know what Gowdy was doing with the information since August do we?
If nothing and he was sandbagged by the Times,then he is not Who I though he was,he should have pounced on Hillary right away.

I’m certain if Hillary is sneaky enough to have a “private server”,
that server is already cleaned.
But that is not the point.
The point is Gowdy knew about this for 6 months and ONLY when the scandal
broke and he was exposed as having known about it for 6 months did
he then issue a grandstanding supeona.
If Gowdy really wants to get to the truth, why hasn’t he issued a supeona
for her server?
It is quite likely that server has been cleaned. But, that too is evidence
of hanky panky.

Some demand very little. And as a result get very little.

They need to go after every person that Hillary emailed from the docs she has submitted so far, any missing correspondence to and from those people should be stored on their email servers.

Any email Hillary! sent or received is most likely sitting on the sender or receivers email server, if it is a gov or US public server the easier to get.

There are system logs on the server hard drive which are time-stamped with the user name.  If anything has been deleted, there will be a record in the log. Martha Stewart went to prison for this. If Trey Gowdy subpenas the hard drive, this could get ugly for H. 

Lois' hard drive crashed, as will Hilliary's. It has been destroyed, and the copy she made will never be discovered.

But that would be very hard to locate from some one else’s computer and cross reference that with her logs.

Would it? The House and Senate committees on Benghazi must have subpoenaed a lot of State Dept. employees e-mails and texts already. Then there is Gowdy's Benghazi committee.

Perhaps, but maybe he was building his case too. Time will tell now, won’t it?

I highly suspect that her emails and her server were scrubbed already, about the time that Accountability Review Board that she herself put together, and long before this Special Committee was in place and Trey Gowdy was ensconced in the driver’s seat.

The ARBoard read no tea leaves and just showed up long enough to give Hillary a Bill of Sale. They never once expressed a degree of bewilderment that they had squat—virtually no available communications of Hillary Clinton from inside the State Department. A clue?

Now comes Trey Gowdy who knows how the dog hunts. Wal-lah! We have an independent server and personal email in a private home in the clutches of the suspect who will be lawyering up to the gills.

That was Trey’s work and timing. I like it.

If I was assigned the task of cleaning up Hillary’s emails, I would backup the harmless emails and logs, then reformat the server, wiping out every single item on hard disk, then reload the system software and then copy back the emails. The logs can be edited to suit."

There would be a time-stamp and SUDO user name associated with a re-format.
The system clock would have to be spoofed, and the email header timestamps would have to line up perfectly with the new system time.
Hillary surely doesn't have the IT chops, and would have to recruit an IT pro, who would have to KNOW he was being set up as the fall guy.

I've worked with linux system logs and it gets more and more complicated as you try to falsify stuff.

NO, but it is not surprising. Many here demand instant action, purest form of agenda, and zero compromises. In real political life, things do not work that way.

First one must win elections before demanding any agenda. If Obama was not in White House, there would be a different Attorney General, and Gowdy would have much easier job.

Instant action?
Gowdy knew about this 6 months ago and only acted on the email supeona
when the story was leaked.

He has had 6 months to supeona the “ physical server”, as well.
I would not say 6 months is wanting instant actions.
The only instant action was done by Gowdy, who for 6 months did nothing.
Then when the story breaks((Not Before), he issues a grandstanding email
supeona. Coincidence? Don’t think so.

The truth will come out in time! Time for the committee to seize the hard drives. The messages do exist—just like Lois Learners. when they come out—Hillary will be cooked. She will never be president—she will never serve in Congress— she’s done.

Thank you, Rita, for your comments re: Gowdy.

I am willing to wait until the public hearings before leaping to conclusions. So many of us have been let down before that trust has been strained to the last frayed strand.

I am wary of the few with integrity left in D.C., and worry that they will be attacked and marginalized.
