The top House Republican Benghazi investigator says the emails Hillary Clinton has handed over for review have “huge gaps” that challenge her credibility over what happened in the 2012 attacks in Libya.
“There are gaps of months and months and months,” Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) said on Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”
In the batch of emails handed over to the House Select Committee on Benghazi, Gowdy said there’s no record of any communication on the day that Clinton was famously photographed wearing sunglasses and typing on her Blackberry.
“We have no emails from that trip,” he said. “It strains credibility to believe that if you’re on your way to…to discuss Libyan policy that there’s not a single document that’s been turned over to Congress.”
Gowdy said his committee won’t be releasing information on any of the emails it has received so far because they don’t present the full picture of what happened during Benghazi attacks that killed the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other Americans. Clinton is welcome to release all of the emails she archived while serving as secretary of State, he said, but she doesn’t get to decide what’s in the public record and what isn’t.
“Frankly. I’ve lost confidence in the State Department to make that determination,” Gowdy said. “They’re the ones who allowed this arrangement. They’re the ones who did nothing about this arrangement until they got a request from our committee.”
Why did Gowdy issue the email subpoena?…REALLY!?... for the same d@nm reason that every other congressional investigation throughout history has issued any legitimate subpoena; to try to establish the facts and fulfill their obligation to oversee and ensure that the Executive Branch is operating according to the law! Sorry, but I think it is absolutely ridiculous for you to argue otherwise. It would have been a SEVERE dereliction of duty for Gowdy NOT to subpoena those emails.
It sure is sad to see so many of my fellow FReepers attacking Rep. Gowdy, who I think is doing great work. It seems obvious to me that they are mistaken to believe that Gowdy has the power and authority of a criminal “special prosecutor”. HE DOES NOT!

There is a 3 prong defense in the works.
1. You can’t trust what’s in the emails
2. Obama was completely in the dark and didn’t know what Hillary was doing. This defense will expand to Hillary was basically running a shadow govt.
3. Obama didn’t know Hillary has been collaborating with the terrorist but Bush did know sometime between 2002 and 2005 Hillary was collaborating with the terrorist and didn’t stop her.
