I think it’s about time the state get out of the marriage business. It made sense when the state promoted heterosexual marriage as a way to strengthen the institution of the family. But now the state is destroying traditional marriage and the family by changing its meaning. Unfortunately, we cannot go back to the day when the state was acting as a force for good; but we can weaken its support for evil by reducing its clout in the process.
The state could issue civil unions which would include legal mechanisms concerning issues with regards to property for minor family members. Or the state could do nothing and consider existing relationships as de facto families for legal purposes.
Marriage should be the union of a man and woman (excepting first relations) under God’s law. A marriage should be consecrated in a Holy place such as a church. The state is evil, dirty and base and should not contaminate a Holy union.
I wonder if some churches will or are recommending a church marriage without a state marriage license because of the debasing involvement of the state.
I'm sure I missed a lot (oatmeal on the face?) but my point is that if all you want to do is stimulate body parts for sexual release, it's all out there.
Now if you want to fulfill God's commandment to be fruitful and multiply, if you want a relationship that's stable and contributes to society as a whole, if you want actual love and caring in the long run, that's different.

So does Buddhism sanction homosexual marriage, or polygamy now? This article indicates that Thailand doesn’t allow it but this marriage was sanctioned by a Buddhist church.
