WASHINGTON (AP) - Winners in a bruising struggle with Republicans over homeland security funding and immigration, minority Democrats had unity on their side, along with a politician’s understandable fear of terrorist attacks and the Constitution’s separation of powers.

The tea party-aligned, bitter-end Republican losers had outrage, and in the House, an unbending unwillingness to compromise that some of their own rank and file judged counterproductive.

It’s not a “divided GOP”. It’s GOP powerbrokers who spit in their voters faces, except during campaigns.

There is no point in compromise Mr. Espo. If we award 20 million illegal immigrants followed by another 50+ million brought in by chain immigration (which is their right to do as the law is written now) the country will essentially suffer ethnic replacement.

Thank the moderates - who sit on their holier than thou asses, lecturing us about the dangers of an “extremist” government for making Obamaism possible. :)

Thank the idiots who preach voting “R” no matter what. They emboldened and taught the GOPe that there are no consequences for betraying their base.

aka: RINOs

The big problem we face is that they hold the power positions in the party.

That “some their own rank and file” are Democrats in R jerseys.

That’s who controls the GOP.

Those Tea-party-aligned, bitter-end guys are the only ones who are not.

For the Republic to survive, the GOP must die.

Ya know...folks....we Conservatives worked so hard to win the Senate and keep the House....and we did a fantastic job....only to have it totally destroyed by Mitch McConnell and John Boehner. These two buffoons are in Obama’s corner, and they both need to be thrown out as leaders.

For goodness sake.....do something about it!!! Is there no Republican....with a backbone!!! I mean.....we have 245 seats in the House....the Democrats have only 188 seats........yet, Democrat, Nancy Pelosi is the real leader in the House, and Harry Reid still rules the Senate. McConnell and Boehner must go....right now!!!

We agree. That’s why Boner needs to go.

Once again he stood with the Rats and divided the Republican party, with a minority of “republicans” siding with him.

In other words he isn’t the leader.

Would Patton have carved off a few regiments to fight with Rommel in battles “we just can’t win?”

These jerks send 19 year olds into no win battles in Iraq and Afghanistan and the kids do it and die, and they don’t give up.

This SOB can show the same kind of courage he expects out of teenagers.

Let’s take this analysis at face value, keeping in mind that this is the centrists’ point of view. Could conservatives gotten a better outcome.

The simple answer is ‘no’. Cromnibus was the establishment’s reaction to the GOP victory that swept conservatives into the majority of GOP members in the house. That essentially set up the political theater that we witnessed with the ‘clean bill’ for DHS. It was a set up.

The article quotes Rep. Charlie Dent a proponent of LGBT rights (as if they didn’t share all the rights we have as American citizens) and Rep. Dennis Ross who’s from a Dem-leaning district. These guys, along with Boehner, are simply working their own self-interest.

So in the current environment, particularly since we don’t hold the executive office, we need to be especially savvy. We’re not going to get what we want, but we can get part of the loaf and then cut it again. We either learn the lesson of this set-up and defeat or we go on to waste the next two years and in 2016 having to defend all our majorities and lose the presidential election.

We need a full court press on conservative populism that forces RINOs and some Dems to our side. That’s the only way to play it.

Republicans “have got to find a level of cohesion where we can at least pass legislation that we get to the president’s desk,” said Rep. Dennis Ross of Florida as the party’s attempt to roll back President Barack Obama’s immigration directives flamed out. “If we can’t do that, we fail to govern and we lose 2016.”

I really don't give a flying frig about 2016. The Republican Party can go to hell.
