The victim of a violent gang rape has been sentenced by a Saudi Arabian court to 200 lashes and six months in jail for the crimes of speaking to the press and indecency.
According to Sharia Law, a Saudi Arabian woman must be accompanied by a male guardian at all times in public, something the 19 year old victim did not obey when she went to meet a friend, according to website Live Buddhism.
While in a car with a student friend, retrieving a picture, two men got into the vehicle and drove them to a secluded area. She said she was raped there by seven men, three of whom also attacked her friend.
The Shi’ite Muslim woman had initially been sentenced to 90 lashes after being convicted of violating the Kingdom’s religious diktats on segregation of the sexes, where woman are treated as second class citizens.
After the sentences were handed down following the rape in 2006, which included lenient custodial sentences for the men guilty of the violent crime, the woman’s lawyer appealed to the Saudi General Court. But instead of choosing to overturn the punishments for being the victim of a crime, the court more than doubled her sentence.

Yes, it is, and it would never happen. But Islam is a world-wide cancer that has brought us “outbreaks” in past centuries. And at those times, the world was consumed with having to beat it back into it’s “den” in the ME. Unfortunately, we now live in a time when WMD’s are a fact and that makes this “outbreak” orders of magnitude more serious. From my perspective, when you look at the Islamic “scripture” (The Koran), I am left with the understanding that there really can’t anything like a “peaceful Muslim.” And the fact that they subscribe to a “join up or die” philosophy, doesn’t leave the rest of us with any options at the end of the day, because there is no avenue to peaceful co-existance. We will be lucky this go around if someone doesn’t take a nuclear, biological or chemical “hit” of historic proportions.

Not to mention hiding their involvement in 9/11. Protecting the Saudis seems to be a government priority.
So basically a death sentence. That’s what 200 lashes is.
Maybe the batteries on my hearing aids are dead because I do not hear the NOW Gang screaming about this from the roof tops.

Why would she report the rape? Someone, either the victim or a real friend/relative, should have delivered a vigilante response to the rapists. When the courts don’t provide justice, decent people should still ensure that justice is served.

Aren’t we blessed to have a Muslim? And it’s so fitting. Islam is a religion of peace and our Muslim-in-chief has his very own Nobel peace prize.
And just where are you going to get the power. The irony is as we seethe more with hate, the devil gets a deeper foothold... in us, not our enemy.
And if all Muslims were gone, that would not reduce the problem that we are all sinners headed to hell without willingly accepting the intervention of the Lord.
Sometimes scapegoating is counterproductive. Maybe we should consider the reason we are so weak before such wickedness is because we have compromised in our hearts with wickedness personally.
This is one thing we would think our feminists would take as a cause, and decry the inhumanity of the Saudi system. If, as appears, the punishment will not be simply symbolic (i.e. whip her with a shoe string).
On the other hand, they may realize that conservatives are the only ones positioned to get their respect. And they do not want to help conservatives.
What is a selfish movement to do? It cannot get off of square one without sacrificing something, which it will never consent to.
it is morally ok to object to a religion or a philosophy because those are actions a person can change. it is repugnant to me to object to something like skin color that a person could not change. there is no hatred in my heart to someone that is under the cruel domination of the Muslim faith only pity for them.
