My relatives apparently LIVED on this in the 30’s. My great uncle actually said that he and his family would DIE before taking a handout. My grandfather was very skilled and always had a job during the Depression. So, he became great friends with my great uncle, and had him and his family over every week for dinner. My godmother told me many years later, THAT was her meal for the week!!!

Ketchup + Hot Water = Soup ,LOL I saw it in the movies. During the Great Depression my Father, his two brothers, and his sister went weeks eating Ketchup sandwiches. That is all they had and could afford. His father, my grandfather, died in a car wreck so the three boys tried to work the hard scrabble farm and did the best they could to help their mother keep them from starving.

The movie I saw it in was a story about a young boy struggling to get through the Depression. It was a good movie.
