Mitch McConnell postpones Iran vote (Rats threatened again to filibuster their own bill)

Mitch McConnell is postponing a vote on the Senate’s Iran legislation in the face of an expected Democratic filibuster.

The Senate majority leader has decided to delay a Tuesday vote on legislation that would allow Congress to approve or reject any nuclear agreement that global powers reach to scale back Iran’s nuclear ambitions. He informed the Senate Republican Conference of the decision on Thursday afternoon following Senate Democrats’ decision to vote against advancing the bill before March 24.

“It is clear that Senate Democrats will filibuster their own bill—a bill they rushed to introduce before the White House cut a deal with Iran. So, instead, the Senate will turn next to the anti-human-trafficking legislation while Democrats decide whether or not they believe they and Congress as a whole should be able to review and vote on any deal the President cuts with the leaders of Iran,” said Don Stewart, a spokesman for McConnell.

Do I sense that there is a new Senate rule, besides a filibuster?

New Rule: “Forewarn of a Threat to Invoke a Filibuster”

That didn't stop Obama from cutting a deal with Cuba.

Dump the filibuster rule and play hardball for a change Mr.Turdle.

Unfortunately, it is never going to happen.

McConnell should have invoked the Reid Rule and unilaterally dumped the filibuster during the amnesty budget debacle. Instead, he gave the Democrats everything they wanted.

I have no illusions that he will ever act differently.

Wow they won’t even fight this.

I think McConnell is waiting to see the mainstream media praise him for being such a bi-partisan and fair majority leader.

He's liable to wait a long time, but it won't stop him from wishing.

Doesn’t the Senate already that power under the constitution - or have they decided to give that one up as well?

McConnell is a total mushroom. Completely outclassed and out maneuvered.

He doesn’t have the stomach for it.

Yes, a 2/3rds vote of the Senate is required to ratify treaties.

People should remember though that in 1994, Clinton made a “deal” with North Korea and never submitted it to the Senate for ratification as he knew he couldn’t get it.

Still, even though North Korea violated Clinton’s deal, the US complied with it’s side for 8 years until December 2002 when Bush finally decided to call out NK for it’s violations.

Right now Zero is following the same path with Iran as Clinton did with NK 2 decades ago.

Let’s just keep two headlines handy....

“Boner Caves”

“Mitch Surrenders”

That’s all we need! Everything else is just filler...
