This puts them in opposition to Ted Cruz and several other GOP contenders who have said decisions on marijuana legalization should be left to the states.

People used to seeing themselves as “The Law” are often unable to come to terms with the legalization of freedom.

Which constitution are we supposed to uphold?

Both, if one adheres to the Founder's interpretation of the 10th Amendment.

Weld Sheriff's refusal to enforce gun rules within letter of the law

Weld County Sheriff John Cooke says he won't enforce new gun-control measures, and legal experts say he won't be breaking the law.

Imagine that.

Which constitution are we supposed to uphold?”

Which part of the US Constitution gives the Feds the power to ban a naturally occurring substance??

The, apparently, last Sheriff...

Justin Smith, Larimer County sheriff, says he won't enforce "unconstitutional" gun laws

In part...

Preserving our Constitutional Republic
The United States was very deliberatively established as a Constitutional Republic. John Adams said it succinctly "We are a nation of laws, not a nation of men." Our founding was based on the clear understanding that we are endowed by our Creator with our unalienable Rights. While our Constitution clearly defined these Rights, it did not create or establish these rights and no government official has the authority to take these Rights away.

Since when is the local constabulary bound to do the Feds’ dirty work?

No more weed busts must be cutting into their coffee and doughnut fund.

It should be left to the states.

And in this case - Colorado made a bad mistake. From the Governor and now sheriffs, people are waking up and admitting legalization was a bad error in judgment.

These Sheriffs that take on a state right issue like this should lose their next election. The people elect sheriff’s not the federal government. This is total BS. How about these same guys defending the second amendment when the state ignores it?

IMHO... it is up to the states. If the Sheriff(s) have such an issue then they should resign. The Sheriff is perfectly able to put in an application for employment with a Federal agency.

Who the heck cares what DC thinks ? DC will never rise again from the debt quicksand. We can never again trust DC with the governance of states. It has failed miserably and is corrupted beyond all repair. States are now all that matter. Follow state law and you should rest at ease. These sheriffs should be happy that local gang bangers lost a source of revenue. Heck I know gang bangers in Cali that were actually forced to find jobs and give up ganja dealing.

So the sheriffs get butthurt over conflict with fed/state drug laws, but have no problem at all going along with a sanctuary state for Illegals and that conflict with federal law.

Got it.

I smoke tobacco and cannabis, drink alcohol. I took my own "right" to driving a vehicle away from myself. I do not drive. I did this because of certain conditions I have.

If pain medication was available through a doctor, I would be doing a lot less of the above.

The control over "legal" pain killers is obscene.

Before anyone labels me, walk a few feet in my shoes.

so if the fed defines X and the state defines X a different way this can be applied to other matters like: obamacare, marriage, etc.

see Alabama.

“Which constitution are we supposed to uphold?”

The one that signs your paycheck, and the one that you look out the window and see. You aren’t US government workers. You are State of Colorado.
If you are so serious about your US Constitutional duty, howzabout arresting some DOJ fast and furious types, some IRS political retribution types, some Hillary personal email law violation, some Obama election fraud charges next time he shows up?

Law enforcement is a bad source to tell us what the law should be. They would find unlimited search and seizure, universal wiretapping, unlimited roadblocks, curfews, and many other things useful too. Their convenience isn’t the thing that matters.

A majority favors marijuana legalization for first time, according to nation’s most authoritative survey

March 04, 2015

For the first time, the General Social Survey -- a large, national survey conducted every two years and widely considered to represent the gold standard for public opinion research -- shows a majority of Americans favoring the legalization of marijuana.

-snip-

Fifty-two percent said pot should be legalized, 42 percent opposed it, and another 7 percent were undecided. Support is up 9 percentage points from 2012 the last time the survey was conducted.
