Catherine Herridge reported on "America's Newsroom" today about ISIS's expansion into Libya, which includes training camps and support networks.
Herridge said that a senior U.S. intelligence official confirmed that more than a dozen ISIS members from Iraq and Syria are now operating in Libya, but the U.S. does not have the targeting authority to take them out.
Herridge added that counter-terrorism sources have confirmed that the new support base for ISIS in eastern Libya is now providing "tangible assistance" in the form of training camps around the city of Derna, in addition to a growing number of Libyan fighters joining the terror group in Syria and Iraq.
Herridge reported that one of the alleged leaders of ISIS in North Africa is Libyan Abdelhakim Belhadj, who was seen by the U.S. as a willing partner in the overthrow of Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
"Now, it's alleged he is firmly aligned with ISIS and supports the training camps in eastern Libya," Herridge said.

Libya is a failed state because Obama and Hillary caused it to become a failed state with their incompetent military actions there.
Refresh my memory here, who is it that helped the Europeans to topple Quadaffi? How was a Quadaffi lead Libya a threat to our National Security? Well congratulations Obama, the failed state with ISIS moving in is now a threat to our National Security...
A significant expansion of ISIS in Libya, or an outright takeover would eventually lead to a push into Chad and a possible linkup with Boko Haram forces operating in Nigeria and northern Cameroon.
Well, it seems more and more the US has played in important tole in the creation of ISI, starting in Libya and Syria. The WH is engage in world wife terrorism so it’s no wonder they are the developers of ISIS.
They damn near did it to Egypt, too.
It’s a good thing that Libyan strongman Gaddafi isn’t still in charge./sarc
They in turn appoint incompetent, inexperienced, and irresponsible people to foreign policy and diplomatic posts.
S^%t rolls downhill. This kind of systemic and perpetual FUBAR is always an HR problem... whether it's in the private sector or in government.
Actually, NO company on earth would/could sustain the kind of drastic, irreversible and repeated screw-ups that this government has and continue AS a company! Somehow, there is a culture of tolerance for (preference for) mediocrity in our current government. The imploding situation in the ME is just ONE illustration of this. The problems resulting from this kind of "HR" mentality are everywhere!
ISIS and Boko Haram will eventually merge. I would not be surprised if the Pakistani Taliban, Afghani Taliban, and one by one, the various Al Qaeda branches eventually declare allegiance to ISIS.
A Sunni/Wahabi/Sufi ISIS spreading from Africa to South Asia, and going to war with Shia Islam, Israel, and the West is not an impossible idea to fathom.
You’ve got this all wrong. It was the Arab Spring. A time of renewal and growth.
Good luck with that. Unless the competent are really hip and cool, with cool campaign logos and promise to govern through Twitter posts, I don't see any hope for our country given our self-serving, narcissistic electorate.
Yup-the deck is certainly stacked against any more ‘adults’ occupying the WH!
