A New Mexico eighth-grader was suspended from school for letting her classmates know that they could opt out of the states new online standardized test.
12-year-old Adelina Silva printed out the forms from her own schools website and was rewarded with a trip to the principals office.
Adelina and her mother, Jacqueline Ellvinger, appeared on Fox and Friends this morning to explain what happened and why Adelina was punished.
I wanted the parents to know that they had the option to let the student either take the test or not, Adelina said.

Future ACLU lawyer.
what exactly did she violate that they suspended her? imo, the fewer days in government school, the better...
She passed out “opt out” forms printed directly from the school districts website ... school employees ripped the forms out of childrens hands that had accepted copies from her ... opting out is fine for the teachers kids but not ours ... I guess too many opt-outs and the school loses money somehow...
SUE THEM , SUE THEM NOW!
Future ACLU lawyer.
****************
We need our own ACLU... I wouldn’t mind them if they actually were for “civil liberties” ... We need some of the conservative legal rights groups to step up their game on recruiting lawyers and donations.
Maybe she violated some obscure secret conformity rule. Logical since the opt out was not supposed to be found.
We have one, the ACLJ
The school were always displeased with me for writing I’m not required to answer on questions about race.
Doubt it.
The ACLU has long been taken over by the Left.
This kid pulled an Alinsky on the Left. In the miniature Third Reichs that government schools have become, that is just not allowed!
She should sue them, and the let the taxpayers of the district foot the bill!
Apparently, PC has advanced to the point that now kids can be kicked out of school for telling the truth.
This lie needs to be exposed:
“I was sent to the principal’s office for an hour and 20 minutes and then at the end of the day she ended up suspending me.”
-but-
The school district released a statement, saying, “Santa Fe Public Schools supports a parent’s right to opt his or her child out of state-mandated standardized testing ... no students in the district have been disciplined for supporting or promoting this district policy of a parent’s right to opt their child out of testing.”
Who is the principal, and who is the teacher?
The Left needs a taste of Alinsky.
It is forbidden to criticize Comrade Stalin. It is even more forbidden to say that it is forbidden to criticize Comrade Stalin.
When speaking truth to power, don’t think that you can speak truth to liberals in power.
Cowardly so-called professional adults fearful of a ‘power grab’ by a juvenile? Pathetic!
Used to be a time when you read an article, that everyone in the family had the same last name. Nowadays, there always seems to be a few different last names. Hyphenated names. Made up names, ie: DeLavarius, LaQuondalitaria. Misspelled names- ie: Brytteniy, Jaysunn. I get the blended family, but I am disgusted at what our country has become. God Bless America.

I was unable to find an update on Adelina Silva. The forms were forcefully yanked from students...
