White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest confirmed Monday that President Obama is "very interested" in the idea of raising taxes through unitlateral executive action.

"The president certainly has not indicated any reticence in using his executive authority to try and advance an agenda that benefits middle class Americans," Earnest said in response to a question about Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) calling on Obama to raise more than $100 billion in taxes through IRS executive action.

Obama: “Yeah, baby! Got to get those corporate effective tax rates up over 40%. For the middle class, of course.”

Never mind that said corporations will in turn either cut jobs or cut hiring to offset increase costs.

Of course it is. Only Congress can levy taxes. Do you think Obama cares about the Constitution? Do you think that even 5% of Americans have a clue about enumerated powers? This is the end of the republic and the beginning of the monarchy.

The English fought a Civil War and executed King Charles I over this issue in the 17th century. The American colonists threw off their allegiance to King George III and fought the Revolutionary War because Parliament demanded the right to tax them without their consent. Obama can probably get away with this because the Democrats are always in favor of higher taxes and the Republicans in Congress are too incompetent to stop him.

And look how Saddam ended up.

His minions control the IRS to audit you to hell, the FBI to come up with some law you violated, the EPA to regulate you out of business, Wall Street and the banks to take your investments with no fear of punishment, importing poverty at warp speed from south of the border that undercut wages, etc. etc.

Everyone in power is on his side, either by sympathy or threat or bribe.

What is a citizen to do?

I don't see how impeachment will solve this problem. Sure the House can bring charges of impeachment. But with Republicans having only 54 votes in the Senate and 67 needed to convict, there is no way Obama will ever be convicted. He would be acquitted. And then we'd be right back where we started at.

In my opinion, he knows this and that is why he is being so lawless in his last two years. No one will be able to stop him. In fact, I think knowing he can't be convicted of whatever impeachment charges are brought, just enables and emboldens him to keep acting like a dictator. In the history of our country, not one president has ever been convicted in an impeachment trial. Not one. So the odds are against it. And all that will happen is that the Republicans will be blamed for trying to oust the first black president and called the obligatory racists, we'll lose our chance at the presidency in 2016 and Obama will get the sympathy vote and become more popular than ever. Don't believe me? Just look at what happened to Bill Clinton. Exactly that.

Congress needs to try and defund and shut down some of his bureaucratic departments where he is doing the most damage. Short of that, I think we'll have to keep our powder dry until 2016 and try to control the Congress AND the presidency and turn back a lot of the damage he's done.

Political reality trumps anger and the desire to impeach him, as does the process required to convict him. Republicans would need 13 democRATs to cross over to vote for conviction. Ain't going to happen in this partisan climate. Some other route needs to be taken to reign him in until his time is up.

He can be impeached in the House. That’s exactly what’s needed to expose everything and deep six Clinton’s 2016 run. Who cares if the Senate doesn’t convict him. He’ll always carry the impeached label. If he’s as borderline as many think, he may come unglued. Might as well stick it up the liberals *&@# good!!

Wishful thinking. A waste of time well spent. Political reality trumps what conservatives want to do right now.

The fact is, articles of impeachment, no matter how many time the House brings them to the Senate, will not do anything to stop Obama. He is doing what he wants to do now, against the Congress and Constitution and knows he can't be convicted.

Wishful thinking. Bill Clinton carried the impeachment label and that didn't stop him or tarnish his reputation with democRATs. He is more popular now than ever. If Obama is violating the Constitution right and left now, why would you think impeachment would bother him? It would just be a minor irritant to him like a fly that needs to be swatted away.

As angry as conservatives are right now with Obama, me included, political reality is that we don't have the power to do much except defund this guys onerous departments and their voluminous regulations. All of his scandals have been exposed and nothing has been done and nobody has been held responsible for anything this administration has done illegally. Republicans stumbling over and over on their d*cks trying to serially impeach, Obama, will get us nowhere. And it definitely will not "deep six' Clinton in 2016. It will only deep six the GOP's chances instead.

Given Obama’s narcissism, I’ll disagree about what the results would be. Clinton reportedly regrets his impeachment. Hillary keeps getting thrashed with new disclosures. Dragging out new info about an old transgression gives the media more opportunities to commit seppuku. It’s all marketing at the core. We need to set the message not set back and take what the media deems newsworthy.

Impeachment would be like a car wreck. Everyone will slow down and take a look. The media won’t be able to resist.

Okay. I'll concede to a difference of opinion.

I would like to see him impeached too but it ain't going to happen so close to the end of his term and so close to the presidential election. Politics and reality will intervene.

You’re right. It’s not going to happen. The GOP doesn’t have the balls to go full tilt. The best we can hope for, as you mentioned, is defunding. It would be nice if it did happen. It would seriously throw the Democrats into a tailspin having to support the Obamamaster while they’re trying to distance themselves. Not knowing whether to crap themselves or go blind comes to mind.

Obama would use impeachment. as an excuse to become MORE thuggy. Why do you push this idea?

The press would turn it into a three ring circus making democrats look like victims. All the public would be told is how much money the process costs.

Forty million you say?

Democrats and their thug army would pay us to impeach Obama... we're simply NOT that stupid. You know that meatloaf...

It’s a wrench in the works. Let’s give Obama something to think about other than screwing with the Constitution. I’d like to see that lawyer of his earn his pay.

Let’s see him get more thuggy. Anyone that willingly climbs into the crapper and pushes the handle should be encouraged.
