BARCELONA, Spain -- Google will soon be offering cellular network plans in a bid to bridge the gap between the realms of Internet services and mobile device software it dominates.
Vice President Sundar Pichai says Google, the leading Internet search engine and mobile software provider, is working with unnamed network operators on developing a cellular plan.

Completely unrelated to “Net Neutrality”, I’m sure.
The time line for the total switchover is decades but possibly in my lifetime the majority of energy consumers will be using on-site energy harvesting tech in the USA. Not because we will run out of fossil fuels or environmental concerns etc.. But, because of simple economics. It will make financial sense to do so.
So the big money will be in wireless communications, because of the nature of the internet. Congress critters have taken in big money from Big Media to assure the Big Media empires can rake the cash by providing access to the internet to hundreds of millions of American internet consumers for far into the future. You are going to see a horde of big money entities who are not in communications rush to get in on the game in the next few years.
