Sadly, the orange man will not take this route.

If it were to prevail, Democratic aides told CQ Roll Call that Republicans think the plan could protect Boehner from blame that he “caved” to his party’s moderates. Boehner and his allies could just point to House Rules and parliamentary procedure, however obscure and arcane, to explain what just occurred ostensibly beyond his control.

So it is a plan to not get blamed for losing, not a plan to win.

http://blogs.rollcall.com/218/house-rule-boehner-dhs-appropriations-shutdown/?dcz=

...there was talk Friday night from senior House Democratic aides of Republicans having found a face-saving procedural gambit that would ultimately end in full funding for Department of Homeland Security for the remainder of the fiscal year.

It looks to me like that “route” would give the Dems what they want and keep Boehner from getting blamed....not much of a bargain as far as I can see

"In other words, any House lawmaker, arguing that a conference scenario is moot and won’t be resolved before the clock runs out on the current extension of DHS funding, could take to the floor and move that the House recedes from its previous position and concurs in the Senate amendment.

Because such a motion is “privileged” that would then trigger a vote on sending the Senate-amended full year Homeland Security appropriations bill to Obama’s desk without any of those riders designed to block his executive actions on immigration.

If it were to prevail, Democratic aides told CQ Roll Call that Republicans think the plan could protect Boehner from blame that he “caved” to his party’s moderates. Boehner and his allies could just point to House Rules and parliamentary procedure, however obscure and arcane, to explain what just occurred ostensibly beyond his control."

Coward's way out.

These kinds of rules and insider manuevering contribute to the public's disgust with congress and the senate.

Just do the jobs you were elected to do.

without the Ohio Republican actually having to do anything.

I don't know, it sounds like something he could actually pull off.

The only time Tammy Faye and Mitchie the Kid fight hard is to hang on to their cushy positions.

True leaders take ownership, they are responsible, and they are accountable. They do not look for ways to shift blame onto others and to not ‘offend’ anyone. They identify their objective, identify their opposition, and engage the the enemy with a winner’s attitude. What they do NOT do is surrender before the fact or at the first hint of resistance. They do not run from a fight. If they get smacked down, they get up, rally their allies, and reengage. They do not concede ground, they take ground, and then go after more. They communicate what it is they are doing to rally support. Bottom line is: Have a plan; have several plans. SURRENDER is NOT a plan.

If he takes this route, then all will know that he is an enemy of the Republic.

Are you kidding? Boehner will be all over this like a fly on poop. It gives him the out he's looking for.

It is sad that these clowns are always making decisions at the midnight hour? My 6 year old kid plans ahead better than these (ahem) educated, seasoned politicians! Term limits enacted 20 years ago would have solved all of these problems.

We voted in November - overwhelmingly a mandate - to STOP OBAMA! We expect Congress to STOP this communist fundamental transformation of the greatest country on earth by Obama and his minions. That's what, 1000-2000 people? Why is this not understood and why is this so difficult?

I've already emailed my congressman that this is not acceptable and I expect him to do whatever it takes- including 'voting against the rule' -to stop it.

As the article points out this can be stopped in the Committee on Rules and it can be stopped by Boehner disciplining RINOs who vote for it.

It cannot happen without Boehner's support.

Amnesty is not merely a political vote that will disappear, it is an existential threat to out country. I hope and pray that Boehner will show more concern for preserving freedom and the rule of law than he will for getting along and dodging blame. Unfortunately, I have very little confidence in Boehner or other GOP leaders in DC.

I DOUBT Bonehead will deviate from the normal "One Party" agenda of Washington D.C..

The outcome is predetermined and it doesn't focus on HELPING AMERICA..
