Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul earned a standing ovation at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) Friday, with members of the conservative activist crowd chanting “President Paul” at one point.
Paul made clear overtures to a presidential run. The video of his speech is below. Here are some highlights:
“Your rights are in your DNA and the government, quite frankly, can get over it.”
“I say that your phone records are yours! I say that the phone records of law-abiding citizens are none of their damn business.”
“Hillary’s war made us less safe. … As Hillary was declaring victory in Libya, Ambassador Stevens was begging for more security. … I believe that Hillary Clinton’s abdication of responsibility, her refusal to provide an adequate defense for Benghazi, her dereliction of duty, should forever preclude her from higher office. It’s time for Hillary Clinton to permanently retire.”
“Without question, we must now defend ourselves, and American interests, from this barbarous aberration [ISIS]. But it troubles me that we must now fight against our own weapons.”
“I say not one penny more to these haters of America.” - On foreign aid to countries where the American flag is burned
“I propose something truly outrageous. Congress should read every bill. Congress should also live under the laws they pass.”
“It’s time for a new president.”

Some posters here seem *ell bent on destroying Rand Paul. That can only be a desire to keep the status quo. Rand Paul is opening the door, wide, the door to escape from a nomination of Jeb or Christie or some other undesirable.
Actually people pushing Paul are the trolls, and you are wrong about lormand’s posting history.

I was a big supporter of Ron Paul. Could care less what those on the right had to say about him. Republican critics were scared of him because he wasn’t one of them. Sure, Ron had some policy issues that I know were wrong, his comments on Kyle were dumb and classless, but his positives outweighed them. Today I am ambivalent on Ron.
Now Rand I thought had a chance to be a real leader. He “SAID” all the right things and I was hoping he an Cruz could form a real power base.
And then he showed me what he was about. In light of the FACTS that a giant black thug beat up a cop and the cop just did his job, Rand Pander Scumbag Paul decides to meet and break bread with evil racist black leaders to kiss their a$^&. He proceeded to discuss police abuse, which is a problem, but had nothing to do with Ferguson.
Rand is a weak, pandering, self serving Justice Warrior. And Social Justice along with White Privilege are just intellectual phrases for White Hatred and Payback.

Hey, I give a man/woman a chance. But I won’t delude myself when they show their true self.
As I said, Ron scared eGOP types and I liked that. GOP is just a slower poison, but just as deadly. We need men women willing to separate from the obvious power structure if there is any hope left. If by some MIRACLE this new Republican Congress has a backbone and fights and wins against Obama on immigration, DHS, 2nd Amendment issues, IRS - then it will restore faith in the Republican Party. But if they cave at all, then how many times does your spouse have to cheat on you before you wise up (analogy not pointing at you Whitey).
This is the last chance. I’m not hoping for much. If they come through, awesome. If not, we know that there are ONLY two options left - surrender via fived voting outcomes and watch the slide into racial/social chaos for us and our families, or grab pitchforks, axes, bats, machetes, rocks, AR’s, AK’s, tomahawks, bows, KaBars etc and go to work.
I thought Rand Paul’s speech was excellent. He was just back from the immigration vote and he looked disgusted by it. I know I am.
Paul is the only GOP candidate for whom I would never consider voting.
