Swedish telecoms group Ericsson announced Friday a lawsuit against US tech giant Apple claiming that its technology was used in iPhones and other wireless devices despite a lapsed licencing agreement.
"Apple currently uses our technology without a license and therefore we are seeking help from the court and the ITC (International Trade Commission)," Ericsson's head of intellectual property, Kasim Alfalahi, said in a statement.
"Features that consumers now take for granted -- like being able to livestream television shows or access their favourite apps from their phone -- rely on the technology we have developed," he added.

You claim I've failed at managing that Apple/Mac ping list for over ten years. . . Where's your list of Freepers who've asked you to keep them informed and who complain to YOU when there are multiple threads on the same topics!
It's the one thing I get more complaints about and the most often cited reason from people who are requesting their names be dropped off the list. I try to avoid posting more than one thread per topic, and when I find a second thread, I always try to let the list members know it's "another thread on the same topic," and if it has a different perspective I will let them know. Over ten years, the members of the list have found they can trust my knowledge and judgement on articles.
What has the source of the article have to do with the fact the post had precedence over yours? Are you arguing that the Liberal BBC is more conservative than the Liberal Rolling Stone? If so, that's hilarious! Again, the content of your posting was a rehash of the mere facts, providing no new insights into the events.
Try using FreeRepublic's search using the main terms in the title. I do. You can also use Google and specify "site:FreeRepublic.com" and see what's been posted on the topic recently. I do that to, before I post an article.
And yes, I'm a true conservative. I was a personal friend of Ronald Reagan and had a standing invitation to use the swimming pool at the Governor's Mansion on 45th Street when he was Governor of California. I'm probably more conservative than you because I don't use Alinsky like tactics on FR threads and I don't immediately attack people I disagree with using ad hominem tactics of insults and slurs, the weapons of a liberal. I use facts and reason, the tools of a true conservative.

You’re right, Berlin_Freeper is an APPLE-HATER TROLL ... who has some serious psychological problems ... such that normal people tend to stay away from people like that ... hence ... the fact that most of the members of the list would prefer to get as far away as possible from crazy people like this.

Essentially, here is the deal (repeated over and over):
A company holds a patent (regardless of if they actually created the idea/tech, or if they just acquired the patent). The technology is one necessary across the industry, so the company enters in to a licensing agreement (FRAND) so as to make sure all have fair access to the technology, with a pre-determined licensing scheme that applies the same to all who use the tech.
BUT - in this case (again) - Apple, a signee (and one who also has patents in the FRAND pool that Apple is NOT playing these games with), happens to be the most successful company in the industry, taking home the majority of profits... so one of the other patent holders i the FRAND agreement decides they will change the licensing scheme JUST for Apple - in an attempt to squeeze them “Preferentially” over other makers. Never mind that the existing FRAND agreement should supersede such attempts to extort Apple (or any other company).
Yet again, deep pockets make for a very attractive target. Doesn’t really matter if they are in the right or wrong.
