A top political nemesis of President Vladimir Putin was shot and killed early Saturday in central Moscow, Russian police said, one day before an opposition rally was scheduled to take place.

Boris Nemtsov, 55, a former deputy prime minister, was shot four times from a passing car as he was walking on a bridge just outside the Kremlin. Interior Ministry spokeswoman Yelena Alexeyeva told reporters on the scene that Nemtsov was walking with a female acquaintance, a Ukrainian citizen, when a vehicle drove up and unidentified assailants shot him dead. The woman wasn't hurt.

A few days ago I heard about a demonstration in Moscow supporting the rebels in Ukraine. I think they said 38,000 people. It will be interesting to see how many come out for the demonstration tomorrow in Moscow to support the assassinated Russian. Today’s news reports suggest perhaps 15,000. I hope they get over 100,000. That would send a message to dictator Putin.

I looked up Litvinenko and found out all kinds of strange connections, including bin Laden’s deputy, Zwahiri. Quite a read.

Comments from my good friend, living near Moscow. I appreciate an average Russian's perspective on issues we American are so quick to form an opinion on, without having hardly any facts, ala LIVs: "Nemtsov was widely liked for his good humor, larger-than-life character and quick wit, but he and other top opposition figures long have been purged from state television and steadily marginalized by the Kremlin." Must be Kremlin propaganda this picture, as well as the fact that all his 7 children from different mothers are studying in London now (London being the home for many of our run-away tycoons) Anyway, this view of events by western media was to be expected, so expected that it does make one wonder if it's not a provocation. Well it's not gonna provoke anything, that's the good thing. I wonder also that, while fearing that Putin may kill him, he was walking in the streets of Moscow at night without bodyguards. I think his popularity might have had a chance to change. Nemtsov was very popular until Yeltsin made the government he was in a scapegoat for Russia’s 1998 financial crises. In fact the crises was of course after effect of 1997 Asia financial crises at the time when Russia didn’t have massive oil revenues.

Crude oil averaged $18.64 for 1997 and $11.91 for 1998. There was little that any cabinet could do. (Data is Illinois Crude as I had it at hand, but it is roughly the same for all crude).

Putin on the other hand has rode record oil price boom, but his propaganda is trying to sell it as his genius and governments at the time of low prices being “evil”. I think if oil prices stay where they are then Russian economy is in deep trouble.

Whatever excuses Putin comes up with I suspect they will weaken the arguments behind vilifying the cabinet that had to work with $11.91 oil price.

Got the oil prices from here - http://inflationdata.com/Inflation/Inflation_Rate/Historical_Oil_Prices_Table.asp

Fine photo.

Likewise, updating: Nemtsov murder caught on tape? Video may offer clues:

http://www.foxnews.com/world/2015/03/01/nemtsov-murder-caught-on-tape-video-may-offer-clues/

“According to the BBC, footage airing on Russian television showed a white Lada Priora car in the area; still, there is no clear signal the vehicle was involved in Nemtsov’s murder. One part of the film shows someone running in the road alongside the Great Moskvoretsky Bridge and jumping into the waiting car, which then sped off.”

Sketchy video from about, 100 yards or so of the shooting. I can’t see anything myself so I’m not posting this here as if it is groundbreaking.

Sopranos? I’ve heard it boyrude, but sorry I’m not real familiar queer town TV episodes you might watch. I was just never interested in sitcoms or TV dramas. In fact I find that entire crowd disgusting.

Just a crazy hunch boyrude, but I would think anyone wanting to get away with murder and conspiracy to commit murder would not view witnesses as being part of a good alibi or positive career enhancement.

But if ya believe real career murderers who put real bullets into real people’s heads don’t care about real witnesses/evidence, I certainly will not try to convince you otherwise.
